Me ha gustado mucho la última temporada de Big Mouth, la serie de animación de Netflix que narra la adolescencia de un grupito de adolescentes norteamericanos.
Lo que empezó como una comedia escatológica ha terminado como una ficción educativa sobre la pubertad vista por millones de adolescentes en todo el mundo, atención: voluntariamente.
¿Cómo lo ha conseguido? Pues, según mi opinión, siendo tan salvaje, desinhibida, divertida, cruel y visceral como la propia adolescencia lo es hoy en día.
Y no solo en materia sexual, sino también en la (tormentosa) construcción de la personalidad y las relaciones con sus iguales.
La serie muestra una sexualidad tan explícita como muchos solo habíamos visto en el porno. Pero, al revés que el porno, lo hace como testimonio de un sorprendente alto valor psicológico .
Big Mouth aspira a enseñarnos a ser guarros bien, a darnos permiso para liberar nuestros deseos e identidades sexuales sin censura, pero de un modo benigno para nosotros mismos y nuestros compañeros sexuales y afectivos.
Big mouth, además, rompe el tabú que, en general, restringe a las fantasías patriarcales el humor más explicito; en la serie, la sexualidad femenina y queer se exhibe y satiriza como pocas o ninguna vez he visto en un producto mainstream, con pretensión de exhibir ese conocimiento a todos los públicos, y no solo a sus nichos por vías más discretas.
También lograron desarrollar un personaje trans que recibió buenas críticas por parte de la comunidad aludida. No es poco teniendo en cuenta el campo de batalla ideológico en que se ha convertido la adolescencia trans.
La pubertad está sobre todo magníficamente narrada gracias a la participación de personajes fantásticos como el mosquito de la ansiedad, la gata de la depresión, el monstruo de las hormonas, el mago de la culpa… con los que los protagonistas dialogan todo el rato.
Así, el monólogo interior adolescente queda escenificado sin tapujos ni censuras.

Nature can adapt to climate change – but not at this speed
The natural world is built for change. Seasons shift. Rivers rise and fall. The climate gradually warms and cools again. Animals migrate, adapt, and evolve in response to these rhythms. This is how Earth has always worked – and how it’s supposed to work.
The pine forests of the Western U.S. offer a perfect example. For thousands of years, ponderosa and lodgepole pines evolved with periodic wildfires that swept through every decade or two. These fires weren’t disasters – they were essential.
Lodgepole pines actually depend on fire to reproduce. Their resinous cones only open in intense heat, releasing seeds onto the ash bed below. Ponderosa pines developed thick, fire-resistant bark to survive the low-intensity ground fires that cleared out undergrowth. These frequent, cool burns created open forests with widely spaced mature trees, healthy and highly productive ecosystems that provided clean water, timber, and wildlife habitat.
So the problem today isn’t change. It’s the speed of change.
Changes that used to take centuries or millennia are now unfolding in a matter of years. Levels of climate-warming carbon dioxide in the atmosphere have risen to well above 400 parts per million, a concentration that last occurred about 15 million years ago.
But even more concerning is the rate of change: By burning fossil fuels, we are emitting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere 30 times faster than at any point in the last 100 million years. That’s like putting nature’s slow-moving film on fast-forward – only the device is overheating as a result.

"Well, a significant problem with the United Nations is that it is ultimately guided by the political views of its member states, particularly the most powerful ones—the permanent members of the Security Council. I am talking here mainly about the United States, but I would not overlook the United Kingdom and France either. In effect, what they sought was a settler state in the Middle East that would allow them to influence and control the region as much as possible.
I don’t believe that underlying objective has changed. This explains the deep devotion to Israel not only by the United States but also by the major European powers, for whom the Middle East remains of immense economic and strategic importance. They need to maintain control over the region, and they cannot rely on other governments there in the same way they can rely on Israel—although some, like Saudi Arabia, are also closely aligned with and loyal to the European powers and the United States. But they cannot count on them in the same way they can with Israel."
