Si costruisca la “Piccola Pace” per giungere a concepire la “Grande Pace”. Questo potrebbe essere il riassunto di quanto uscito dai confronti con Giovani Costruttrici e Costruttori di Pace, di cui sono orgogliosamente parte, in questa quattro giorni svoltasi ad Assisi con il fine di organizzare la Marcia per la Pace Perugia-Assisi del 12 ottobre di quest’anno, ma anche per organizzare i pensieri e le azioni di tutte e tutti noi come attivisti e attiviste per la Pace a cui ho partecipato come Consigliere comunale di Castelnovo Monti con delega alla Cultura, ai Diritti e alla Pace e come esponente di Possibile.
La mattina del 30 agosto sono intervenuto alla presenza di altri amministratori e amministratrici locali ricordando che il punto fondamentale per costruire la “Grande Pace”, quella tra stati, è necessario costruire anche la “Piccola Pace”, quella interna alle nostre comunità, siano esse un’aula scolastica o un Comune da amministrare.
Mi sono soffermato anche su una visione diversa delle città in cui viviamo, che spesso si rivelano essere il primo limite fisico al dialogo, per una mancanza di luoghi in cui poter avere uno scambio partecipativo e per come esse vengono ideate, con una sottesa discriminazione e ghettizzazione delle minoranze che crea aree di disagio e abbandono che portano alla creazione della violenza, la quale viene soppressa con ulteriore violenza.
Per creare la pace bisogna creare le condizioni fondamentali perché sia presente prima di tutto nelle nostre comunità e quindi adoperarsi per la giustizia sociale, perché tutti e tutte abbiano le stesse opportunità e gli stessi diritti civili, sociali e politici.
Infine, è fondamentale insistere sul rispetto del diritto internazionale, perché le Organizzazioni Internazionali oramai troppo spesso si trovano a spendere parole che si perdono nel vento contro le violenze nei conflitti. Una riforma profondamente democratica dell’ONU potrebbe dare più forza alla pace e alla giustizia.
Partecipiamo tutte e tutti il 12 ottobre alla Marcia per la Pace, perché il messaggio dev’essere chiaro al mondo intero: la Pace è un diritto di tutti e tutte, la guerra una scelta di pochi.

I worry that the recent drones over Denmark show that the supposed deterrent of NATO is purely theoretical.
By which I mean that I suspect most NATO leaders and military folk have decided that because no one would be fool enough to attack NATO, there's no need to actually prepare and train for an attack. Hence the deterrent is only theoretical. NATO has tons of weapons but apparently no one knows how use them or what to do if an attack does happen.

I figured things went downhill right from 3.0 -- that's when I stopped doing any work with anything related to Microsoft systems.
OS/2 (at least from 2.x onwards) would have been interesting, but even it didn't have a clean and elegant kernel API like Unix did, and its internals were a mess (witness how it was effectively impossible to port it to the PowerPC or any other CPU). Even so it would have been far better than anything that ever came from Microsoft. However Microsoft basically tricked developers into sticking with Windows by giving them a far cheaper compiler and SDK with far better licensing terms than IBM was willing to offer at the time. I.e. IBM were were also too greedy, but they didn't understand the market at all.
In terms of this article I wouldn't trust either Microsoft or IBM with my data, especially not outside of the USA, but even within the USA, and even in an alternate history where the USA never went down this path to fascism. Both companies have always put themselves before their customers and have always been too greedy.

Das Urteil des ICJ darüber ob ein Genozid vorliegt, hat viel höhere juristische Vorraussetzungen, während die Verpflichtung der Staaten Maßnahmen zu treffen um einen Genozid zu verhindern, bereits dann getriggert wird wenn Hinweise auf genozidales Handeln vorliegen.

in reply to stephie • • •Die Argumentation der britischen und deutschen Regierungen läuft darauf hinaus, dass die Pflicht zur Prävention eines Genozid erst dann eintritt, wenn alle Alternativerklärungen für genozidales Handeln komplett verneint wurden sind, und dass ihn einem Prozess vor dem ICJ geurteilt wurde.
Sie wollen einen Genozid erst dann verhindern müssen, wenn die Gräber der Opfer bereits kalt sind und Gras über die Sache gewachsen ist.
