I guess it's the same reason why most Christians today don't think that death penalty should be applied for adultery (Leviticus 20:10) and homosexuality (Leviticus 20:13).
okay, just a thought here. To my knowledge, the single city in the American continents where the mayor is outnumbered most by his constituents is New York City. I can't imagine a city where a mayor is more motivated to stand with his constituents and make it visible and apparent that he does so. I mean, listening to him and watching him, I would say that he's just a good human being and is likely to stand with his constituents anyway. But if it comes to a contest between him and the people, he's way outnumbered. I bet he's aware of that.
