Has anyone figured out a solution to "I'm shit sick of #Google #Android phones, #Apple is likewise a shitshow, but my #bank insists I use their app to verify payments, etc"?
I'd love to move to something like a #FairPhone & regain more control over my devices but the #BankingApp issue makes it a non-starter.

So do you know for sure already that your banking app only accepts a Google-certified Android? (vs. Custom ROM Android) /u

@WeAreFairphone for eOS there is a community made list of banking apps that work:

community.e.foundation/t/list-…

There is also a list not limited to banking:

community.e.foundation/t/list-…

Since eOS uses microG, these lists should also apply to other OSes that use microG as well. But YMMV.

On GrapenenOS you can install Google Services in a sandbox, which also makes most apps work from what I have heard.

@Nudeln Al Dente

Be careful, the main focus of Fairphone is on "fairness" towards workers and the environment not about privacy.

However, they also sell their smartphones with /e/OS preinstalled.

I think it could be useful to have a look at Fairphone community forum, I'm sure there are people that already did that move and can share with you pro and cons.

@Your inconvenient idiot

I've just checked on the site and I can't find that information but I'm pretty sure I read it there. So I chatted with their AI agent and it confirmed Fairphone 6 is sold with /e/os pre-installed. I asked to have a link to the page saying that but it's not clever enough and it keeps replying that's sold with /e/os pre-installed 😁

I've asked to be contacted by a human so in the next few hours/days I should receive an email with a link to the right site page.

Meanwhile, I'm leaving an evidence 😁

Keep in mind that you could buy the standard version, install e/os by yourself and save 50€ 😀

I'm not 100% sure the warranty is still valid after that. Better ask the support before doing that.
