Un gruppo di hacker a pagamento ha preso di mira le vittime con spyware per Android e con attacchi di phishing per penetrare nei backup di iCloud.
Il gruppo, nome in codice BITTER, avrebbe legami con il governo indiano e avrebbe attaccato vittime in Medio Oriente e Nord Africa, tra cui giornalisti e funzionari governativi.
"Queste operazioni sono diventate più economiche ed è possibile eludere le proprie responsabilità, soprattutto perché non si conosce l'identità del cliente finale e l'infrastruttura non rivela l'entità che si cela dietro di esse", ha affermato Mohammed Al-Maskati, investigatore di AccessNow.

NEW: A hack-for-hire group targeted victims with Android spyware and with phishing attacks to break into iCloud backups.The group, codenamed BITTER, has alleged ties with Indian government, and attacked victims in the Middle East and North Africa, including journalists and government officials.
"These operations have become cheaper and it’s possible to evade responsibility, especially since we won’t know who the end customer is, and the infrastructure won’t reveal the entity behind it," said AccessNow's investigator Mohammed Al-Maskati.
