ICYMI: Updates from the 5/3 Meeting
ICYMI
Arizona – The Arizona Pirate Party is currently seeking a new location for their “Plunder Hunger” food drive. The AZPP is planning to table at an event called “Ground Works.” Finally, a t-shirt design fundraising contest is being planned for supporters of the Arizona Pirates.
Bylaws – Simple bylaws updates have been made to the bylaws of both the Pirate National Committee and Young Pirates USA. “PNC Art. IV §2.3. To be eligible for PNC officer positions all candidates must complete an interview conducted by an individual appointed by the PNC.”
Young Pirates USA Art. III § 2 now simply reads “State” instead of “State or Territory” as the U.S. territories are defined in the Pirate National Committee bylaws defines the “territories” as “states” in regards to Pirate activities.
Campaign Updates – Drew Bingaman will be tabling during an upcoming festival in Sunbury, PA. More volunteers to help with signature collection have joined the Bingaman campaign.
Hunter Rand has been endorsed by IATSE Local 363!
California – California was moved to probationary status due to lack of Pirate National Committee representation and web presence. This is not unusual for a Pirate Party to need a hand, so if you are in California and wish to get involved with the Pirate Party, we have a readymade PNC member state who need help getting back on their feet. If you wish to be the PNC rep for California, feel free to contact the board and let’s work together.
Committees – An election committee has been formed in the lead up to the 2026 Pirate National Conference. This is a typical action the board performs every year in the lead up to the annual conference. Platform committee has been asked to articulate our position more accurately and explicitly to voice our concerns over Citizens United and getting money out of politics.
Maryland – Last night, the Maryland Pirate Party ascended to the Pirate National Committee, joining as our tenth member! Congratulations to Maryland! To quote Vice Captain Ty Clifford during last night’s meeting: MARYLAND! MARYLAND! MARYLAND! MARYLAND! MARYLAND!
Pirate National Conference – We are less than five weeks away from our 20th anniversary conference in June. Live from Boston, the 2026 Pirate National Conference will be a hybrid affair, allowing those not able to physically attend the opportunity attend online.
