Moderation system and new user role

!Friendica Support hi!

Some updates for the develop branch: These days a PR got merged that provides three things:

  1. Massive enhancements for the moderation system
  2. A new user role "moderator"
  3. Reports can now be transmitted to other systems

The moderation system now should contain everything from deleting a post, blocking a user and even writing an email to a local user. I have done tests but not everything is tested in "real life", so please have a look if everything works for you. Especially we now support admin activities via API, but I don't know by now how these can even be reached via client.

Also there is now a possibility to assign the user role "moderator" to a user. So for now on you can delegate this task to trusted users.

And finally: it should be possible now to transmit reports to other systems. This I haven't tested in real life, because this is harder to test.

Great news! Thanks, @Michael πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ .
Do you know if a new final release will be released soon, without going through a release candidate? I ask because we at Poliverso never run the release candidate in production, so we always wait for the final release.

Nun kommt also die "Moderation" auch in Friendica in Gange. Wie schade, somit verkommt "eine Zensur findet nicht statt" zur hohlen Phrase. Blasenbildung ΓΌberall.

No worries, we created time ago @Pillory, @Picota and @Pranger for those of us who believe that the issue of moderation should be discussed out in the open as it should be in any free open source government.

In any case all those things should be manageable by opt in and opt out and displayed properly in the /friendica page.
Moderation is and always will be the bottle neck of social networking, so tools to help instance admins in that painful work should be welcomed.

A tool is a tool is a tool.
It's up to us how to implement it and to realize that we are creating culture by how we are doing that.

If you want to, just have a look at email SPAM to get an idea what we are going to face if the fedi becomes ever relevant.

@Michael πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ Well the default roles are "Owner," "Administrator," and "Moderator." But other roles with specific permissions can be created (docs.joinmastodon.org/entities…). I don't know how granular Friendica's permissions are. I think I read that Sharkey also has custom roles? There was something in their docs about creating a custom user role to remove rate-limits for popular accounts. I'm not admining any servers so I'm not sure what all custom roles are being used for in the wild.
