Well... actually we can cope with am/pm but that weird way you have to write dates is really awful 😁

And... most of all... SPEAK SLOWLY!!!

We all (almost) have studied English but you learnt it by your mother and that gives you an incommensurable advantage.

And try to make a reasonable use of phraseological verbs. Using "get/make + preposition" to cover all possible verbs in the universe is the same as using encryption 😁

fyi in my esl teaching days I was very fond of teaching phrasal verbs by the preposition first and what it does in general to a standing verb rather than the other way around as it is traditionally taught. It's much easier to understand stand down dress down drive down go down get down let down... than it is to take one of those verbs and try to understand it under the effect of every possible preposition that can pair with it, often changing the meaning beyond any recognition.

I write dates out like 13 SEP 2026.

I used to work for a company that made things which went to every continent. Writing the date like that on the paperwork was found to be the only way that could reliably stop misunderstandings when it came to selling to different countries which all used different date abbreviations. Thus, it was mandatory to write all dates in that manner.

Given that I did at least 1-2 hours of paperwork every day, I got into the habit of doing this.
