Welcome Back, Maryland Pirate Party

May 4

Last night, during the May 3rd PNC meeting, the Maryland Pirate Party ascended to the Pirate National Committee, joining as our tenth member!

Maryland was previously a voting member of the Pirate National Committee, an earlier addition in the history of the party and a voting member as late as 2013. Since then, the Maryland Pirate Party had fallen to the wayside, waiting for someone to pick up the pieces.

Last night, they had finally been picked back up and put back together again.

Maryland officially rejoins the Pirate National Committee, joining as the 10th voting member. While the history of the Pirate Party in states is recognized and acknowledged, we consider Maryland’s ascension to be a fresh start and new beginning for the party, even if the history is all a shared continuation.

Pirate lore, pretty deep after 20 years. We should celebrate that.

An important and welcomed note is that the leadership from the MDPP of years previous helped get this back in order and never truly left the fold. We thank everyone who helped get the Maryland Pirate Party running, from back their creation in 2012 through their return in 2026.

Be sure to visit their website and follow them on Facebook.

Congratulations to Maryland! To quote Vice Captain Ty Clifford during last night’s meeting: MARYLAND! MARYLAND! MARYLAND! MARYLAND! MARYLAND!
