Ok my fellow nerds, #fennec, a #Firefox version compiled for #fdroid, doesn't load websites 80% of the time, completely randomly. I searched for solutions and concluded that since nothing works it must be #android itself that nerfs the competing browser.
My question is, how dumb is using something based on WebView, actually? I installed #Fulguris and it's blazing fast, seems to be working 100% of the time. It's open.
Since I have no experience with android development, is WebView chromium in disguise or is it fine? And I opening myself to all of the Google malpractice through it? I wish I could use Fennec but it turns literally useless, when I can't even load wikipedia most of the times.

The only issues I had right away were it doesn't use Firefox sync (so no passwords, bookmarks and history transfert or tabs sharing) and "Google Safe Browsing" couldn't be disabled.

Temporary work around at the moment is to lock your phone, wait a couple of seconds and unlock it again. Fixes it again for a little while. Hopefully a fix out for it soon.

Has stopped loading things after a recent update. Its guess is some DNS failure, probably caused by some change to enhanced privacy stuff.
It'll look into this further now. Good start will be a rollback to a previous version.
WebView is what chromium is using.
Just depends what you wish to use. Not got any experience with the browser you mention, but if you trust it, it's probably okay. If the browser uses the system WebView, it can actually slightly lower your attack surface, assuming the implementation is remotely up to date.
