Of the seven Earth-sized worlds orbiting the red dwarf #star TRAPPIST-1, one #planet in particular has attracted the attention of scientists, because it orbits the star within the distance where water on its surface is theoretically possible – but only if the planet has an #atmosphere.
The basic thesis for TRAPPIST-1e is this: If it has an atmosphere, it’s #habitable.
Now, based on an examination of four of the planet's transits with transmission spectroscopy, astronomers have identified weak fingerprints of #methane.
But this does not necessarily imply the planet has an atmosphere and is habitable because it is not certain whether the methane is attributable to molecules in the atmosphere of the planet or in the host #star.
Or perhaps the tentative detection is not true at all.

I was fortunate enough to share in a wonderful experience today. A trans mom, who is a close friend, and her 2 youngest went clothes shopping with me today. The older of the 2 that were with us is also trans, and she had the best time looking at clothes, shoes, and makeup. Her mom got her a good bit of clothes and a pair of shoes, which her other mom neglects to do entirely.
The joy on this girl's face at having something affirming to wear, and when she got to try on eyeliner and say "I look pretty!" was amazing. I've never seen anything like it. It was one of the most wholesome things I've ever seen. She's almost 13, and she's been talking about this for about 2 years now. She's going to have a better life, a better chance, than we did. I'm so happy for her. Protect trans kids. Support trans kids.
Those 2 anecdotes, provided back to back just like that, were supposed to serve as support for her "advice" about how we should interact with my friend's child. You know what they sound like to me? The first one sounds like plain transphobia. I understand worrying about *society* if your child is trans, but their gender isn't the problem. And the second one? Sure as hell sounds like there's no problem there, at all. She thought she might be trans, tried it out, and isn't? Good for her!
This response seems innocuous enough, but her low-level implication is that kids are being influenced to become trans. (You cannot make someone trans.) The deeper implication is either that being cisgender is superior, or that being trans is not real. But it is real, and let's not do the gender heirarchy thing. It's bad for everyone: those at the top of the heirarchy, those in a distant second, and everyone else that's in an even more distant third tier.
The worst part is we live in a society that *by default* tries to force everyone to be cis, and all the cis people are either blind or willfully ignorant to that. Let your kid be whatever gender they want. If it's not true to them, or they're not ready, they can stop any time. Support and protect trans cihldren, because everyone else is doing the opposite by default.
I mean that fully. I made a post earlier about how, throughout my life, every opinion I ever heard about trans people was negative. Not just negative, but actively harmful. These people are doing what they're "supposed" to do: discourage transgender people from presenting as their true gender. That is harmful. It's not innocuous, it's definitely not positive. There is nothing to be gained by forcing that pain on us.

Standard Notes non diventerà parte di Proton: il 2025 in sintesi e cosa aspettarsi
A un anno dall’acquisizione da parte di Proton, molte persone si chiedevano se prima o poi l’app per appunti crittografati sarebbe confluita nell’ecosistema dell’azienda svizzera. Magari con un abbonamento unico che includesse VPN, mail, cloud e note tutte insieme. La risposta ufficiale è arrivata con l’aggiornamento di fine anno: no, non succederà.
Come riporta il blog ufficiale di Standard Notes, l’applicazione manterrà un proprio piano tariffario separato, un proprio marchio e una roadmap indipendente. Insomma, chi sperava di pagare un solo abbonamento per avere tutto l’universo Proton probabilmente dovrà farsene una ragione.

Cosa è cambiato (e cosa no)
L’ingresso nella famiglia Proton ha comunque portato vantaggi concreti: il team ha potuto contare su nuovi sviluppatori dedicati e sulla collaborazione degli ingegneri di Proton per quanto riguarda sicurezza e infrastruttura. Il 2025 è stato dedicato principalmente a sistemare problemi e migliorare le prestazioni su tutte le piattaforme.
Tra le novità più interessanti c’è una tavolozza comandi accessibile con una scorciatoia da tastiera (su desktop e web), miglioramenti all’editor Super per l’allineamento delle immagini, e una serie di correzioni che rendono l’applicazione più stabile. Su Android, per esempio, è stato rimosso il limite tecnico al numero di note salvabili in locale.
Cosa arriverà nel 2026
Per il prossimo anno il team ha in programma alcune funzioni richieste a gran voce dalla comunità: localizzazione in più lingue, ricerca all’interno delle note estesa a tutti gli editor (oggi funziona solo con Super), possibilità di filtrare le note per etichetta direttamente dalla barra di ricerca, e il salvataggio della posizione del cursore per riprendere la scrittura da dove si era interrotti.
Non sembra esserci nulla di rivoluzionario, ma miglioramenti che potrebbero rendere l’esperienza d’uso decisamente più fluida per chi usa Standard Notes quotidianamente.

Ok, the way you escape Pandemonium is that you help it by explicitly distancing nodes from each other using intermediate Junction nodes.
You only ever connect at most one node to one outgoing direction of another node, you assume they're on a grid where one node is one unit from its neighbor, and you avoid overlapping nodes.
Don't give the layout engine anything to work out for you, and it won't go haywire.

In der Zwischenzeit sind aber immer mehr ehemalige Polizeiaufgaben von Bürgerämtern, Ordnungsämtern, privaten Sicherheitsdiensten, der Bundespolizei und von Technik übernommen worden, aber trotzdem ist die Institution immer noch "überlastet", obwohl dort nicht gespart wird.
Vielleicht sind die Sparmaßnahmen im Sozialen, bei der Jugendarbeit und bei der Drogenprävention das Problem?
