Seven European countries said Friday they would “not stay silent” in response to Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
“We will not be silent in front of the man-made humanitarian catastrophe that is taking place before our eyes in Gaza. More than 50.000 men, women, and children have lost their lives,” Iceland, Luxembourg, Spain, Slovenia, Malta, Spain and Norway said in a statement.

Personalmente non riesco a gioire per queste notizie. Sì fighissima la scienza che c'è dietro, ma vedo l'aumento della longevità come qualcosa di estremamente non etico, egoistico, e ambientalmente insostenibile.
Ok per la cura delle malattie e la ricerca per annullare il dolore. Ma la longevità...
Ok, ammettiamo che allungare la vita delle persone del 20% sia possibile. Quali scenari si aprono? Io ne vedo due possibili:
accessibilità del trattamento a pagamento con minimo 5 o 6 zeri, e vecchi bastardi straricchi che non muoiono più e opprimono sia i padri che i figli, che i nipoti.
accessibilità del trattamento a chiunque (tranne i Paesi del terzo mondo,ovviamente) e età pensionabile portata a 78-80 anni minimo. Senza considerare, a tendere, il dramma dell'aumento di popolazione che richiederebbe delle politiche per limitare la fertilità, aprendo la strada allo schiavo perfetto: incapace di riprodursi autonomamente e in grado di lavorare fino alla soglia della morte. L'ideale di una societa ipercapitalista.
Uno studio internazionale appena pubblicato dimostra che aumentare i livelli della proteina Klotho nei topi ha effetti straordinari: +20% di aspettativa di vita, muscoli più forti, ossa più sane, cervello più attivo.
È scienza pura. Terapia genica, dati verificati, potenziale enorme.
Siamo ancora in fase sperimentale, ma la direzione è chiara: per la prima volta, la longevità sembra qualcosa che possiamo influenzare davvero.
