Yes, one of the things that really got to Sue and I, on occasions with a couple of repair cafes, was the feeling that we were getting taken for granted, that we'd always be there, and would work like the clappers to repair everything unsupported and without a break.
The meet and greet volunteers we like have been the ones who checked what the repair was, and developed an understanding of how involved it would be. They would then check if a repairer was up to the task of something very involved, and also remind the repairer to stop and have a break if they looked like they needed it.
Also all the volunteers need a little socialising time to get to know each other too. That way we feel comfortable asking each other for help and advice, or to borrow a tool, or to ask for, or offer, clean up stuff after a messy vacuum cleaner.

I have been waiting for a Trump era espionage novel. Just read A Spy Alone by former MI6, Charles Beaumont. Nice ripping yarn but also the best yet analysis of the current coup of globalized oligarchs and propagandists against "the masses" and citizens of every nation. It ain't east vs west; it's 1% against 99%.

Honderden pro-Palestijnse activisten zijn maandagmorgen rond 7.45 uur het terrein van Syensqo binnengedrongen in Machelen. Dat bedrijf zou bijdragen aan de drones waarmee Israël aanvallen uitvoert in Gaza.

Momenteel staat de politie rond de activisten. Sommigen zijn al opgepakt. Er is traangas ingezet. De sfeer is zeer grimmig.
