Up until today, I had no issues with this person. Then, out of nowhere, they started pontificating about how my wife is supposedly “disconnected” from her ancestors—a week after we buried her grandfather.
I asked for a little decency. Instead, she doubled down.
There’s nothing admirable about using someone’s grief as a platform to push your identity politics, especially when you have zero connection to their family. There’s a time and a place for these debates. This wasn’t it.

At that exhibition she expressed an interest in my work and jokingly asked what kind of a bribe I needed to make one for her. We discussed colours and patterns. She was joking, I was not. Now, a year later, she is my excuse for my latest improvised stash buster: a triangle petrol lace shawl with a black border. It’s very soft and pretty big, so I hope she will like it!

This makes me contemplate which popular card or board game played in a train would be the most distractive for other passengers.
My bet would be Jungle Speed, where at random intervals a multi-player scramble ends up with a not-insignificant wooden stick flying through the room. Doing this in a train would definitely create chaos.

Talking about "not for the quiet coach": years ago I encountered the weirdest group of football supporters ever.
Group of about 20 men, all way over 40, who basically took over our entire train car.
Two were playing chess on a little travel chessboard.
The rest of the group was divided in two camps; cheered for good moves and boooeed for the bad ones. Every time a piece was captured one group got to drink..
