Fueron unas lindas décadas, y una tecnología disfrutable para nosotras las enfermitas. Después de los años de laburo que insumió adaptar tubos plegados al formato requerido y construir bases que incluyeran un balasto, en su versión original magnético, que las hacía pesar arriba de medio kilo sumado al grueso vidrio difusor, y desde fines de los ochentas en adelante electrónico (pero miren la bestia que fue al principio, con un capacitor electrolítico grueso como un dedo), se llegó a productos razonablemente eficientes y longevos si no se los maltrataba.
Me limitaré a contemplar en mi mente cada uno de los desarrollos que culminaron en estos objetos de complejidad decididamente moderada para nuestra época, pero demencial para cualquier artesano o ingeniero de principios del siglo XIX. (Sí, cuando se estaba aún desculando la electricidad. Buena época.)

No multi tasking/no multi user 650kB RAM. Above 650kB the driver space. (himem.sys to bypass that and so on...) The chip can do all that but the OS was so bad. Based in #minix (needed as a boot helper) he started with #linux. And he unleashed the processor at that time.
