Versions of the bill have been struck down three times already, but the current EU leadership is committed to trying for a fourth time thanks to lobbying from some questionable sources.
If passed, the legislation would mandate the adoption of "AI" client-side-scanning systems to scan text and media for offensive content even in the context of services using end-to-end encryption.
Put simply, AI does not work reliably enough to avoid falsely reporting random people for criminal behaviour, and even if it did there are insufficient safeguards to ensure it would not be abused to spy on protestors and political opponents.
I wrote an article about this more than three years ago in my former role as the lead of the CryptPad project, and the legislation remains largely the same since then. I recommend reading that for some good reasons to oppose this effort:

So essentially, by mandating that services embed machine learning models to detect child sexual abuse material (CSAM), law enforcement agencies would provide the technical capability for bad actors to train generative AI systems to generate offensive material.
This was already a risk in 2022 when I wrote about it, and the relevant technologies have only gotten more sophisticated since then.
I used that page to e-mail all German MEPs since Germany's stance seems to be "undecided". I've received a bunch of automated "we're on holiday" replies and one MEP has copy&pasted a reply saying that he's opposed and is working to convince the whole fraction.

Et pour répondre à la question de pourquoi les gens appellent les flics au lieu d'aller demander gentiment de baisser le son c'est parce que t'as 1 chance sur 2 de te faire envoyer chier voire te faire agresser.
En tout cas moi les rares fois où chuis allé voir une personne pour lui demander de faire moins de bruit, je me suis fait recevoir…

Je sais pas. Sur le sujet la première chose qui me vienne à l'esprit c'est qu'on peut pas espérer loger 10x, 50x plus de personnes sur la même surface et espérer que ça reste silencieux. Tout le monde aime le calme. Après y'a celleux qui peuvent se l'offrir, aka une maison avec 1000m2 de jardin pour un foyer, et les autres, aka 3 immeubles de 20 apparts chacun sur 1000m3
@vieveca Ah mais c'est une question extrêmement politique. Mais précisément ça mérite mieux que les take nulles de cette vidéo comme postuler que vivre dans le bruit, c'est naturel. En réalité, pendant l'immense majorité de son existence, l'immense majorité de la population humaine a vécu dans des niveaux de bruit extrêmement faibles.
Tout comme poser comme principe parfaitement inquestionnable le droit de faire du bruit en paix jusqu'à 22h comme le fait Léo en moitié de vidéo… 🙄

En vrai, les villes sont pas si bruyantes. Bien sûr, les endroits où il y a de l’activité (bars, restaus, commerces, boîtes de nuit…) le sont un peu plus, mais une ville peut être plutôt silencieuse en étant assez dense.
La source principale de bruit en ville… ce sont les voitures.
(et d’ailleurs pour les bars et restau, ce serait sans doute moins bruyant si les gérants mettaient pas de la musique à fond de balle qui t’obliges à hurler pour discuter avec ton voisin…)
@breizh @vieveca Les villes, c'est l'exemple qui est donné dans l'article au début de la vidéo. L'a personne qui l'écrit explique avoir grandi avec les bruits de la ville (klaxon, boom bass, gens qui parlent fort) et avoir été gênée par le silence de l'université de l'ivy league.
Mais en vrai, ouais la campagne c'est bruyant aussi. Y'a des machines agricoles, des animaux domestiques et sauvages… Moi j'ai grandi avec les poules et les chevaux
