According to he testimony in that page her family name is "Burtzteyn". Apparently Yad Vashem did not care to read properly and eroded history (see facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=11…) by changing it into Burtshteyn (this carelessness about Holocaust victims appears to be typical for the social media hasbara spam and online databases of the "Auschwitz Council" and "Yad Vashem – The World Holocaust Remembrance Center".
Also interesting is where the greyscale photo originated from, as no picture is attached to the testimony.

Looking up just mr. Wiśnia's last name, victims.auschwitz.org/victims?…, results in 5 records found ("Wisnia", victims.auschwitz.org/victims?… finds 9, minimal data of every person in the Alt text of the screenshot below). None of those records includes a photograph.
Adding a record for mr. Dawid Wiśnia would be a double encrichment of your database (1: another record; 2,: *with* a photograph) while the work required is next to negligible: all the required details are in your toot.
But you will not do that, because your hasbara toots attract a lot more attention *and* because you do neither care about individual Holocaust victims, nor about people looking for information in your database.
You favour toots, not just *directly* because such toots get boosted (mostly by bots and fake accounts) a lot, but also "indirectly" because "impressive" toots uploaded by you are usually boosted that many times that they become trending.

There's a bit of commotion on Lobsters because an unpleasant-but-technically-correct user finally got banned, and I realized that an unpopular opinion of mine is that moderators are always right.
I don't care about the letter of the CoC. I don't care about transparency, even. Moderation is the fundamentally human and nuanced big-picture job that shapes a community.
The entire reason Anubis development has been slow is because I've been dealing with other unrelated shit along these lines in the background. That and sales, oh god so much sales emails that get caught in the spam filter.
this is one of those things we chat about on the social.coop moderation team a lot, and something I think most of the fediverse-instance-picker sites get wrong: don't go to a specific Mastodon instance or whatever because it has your favorite activity in the name, go to the one where the mods are responsive and have your best interests at heart (however you define that). Unfortunately this is a lot harder to discover, and a lot harder to quantify on a "pick an instance" site.
My litmus test these days for a healthy community is seeing a moderation action along the lines of "I see the game you're playing, and it's not welcome here, goodbye". Conversely, communities where moderation is effectively an algorithm that must hit an exact match on a long list of detailed rules is a smell, because that rulebook tends to be the result of trolls repeatedly walking up to the line, and demanding that moderators write down in detail where the line is located.
One of the reasons why I like Lobste.rs is the active and mindful moderation. Lobste.rs is succeeding (insofar as “I wish to continue being there”) where other tech link sites failed.
Slashdot tried more-or-less full community moderation and started getting real Nazi bar vibes for a while there (maybe it’s gotten better; I wouldn’t know).
So yeah, cheers to Lobste.rs. Sometimes you gotta do the thing for the sake of the community.

I think there are specific unskilled choices mods can make which are wrong *in terms of their own intentions*. There are also deliberate choices mods can make in influential spaces which foment attitudes and encourage actions that are worse for the world, and thus affect me and others negatively. It doesn't have to be "my community" to affect me.
One rando's take, for the eight years I've been on that site every time I saw a reply by that handle and it's prior incarnation I would grit my teeth before reading with the thought, "Is this going to be a worthwhile contribution or is this going to be some borderline bullshit?" There's a few others there who concern troll, sealion, and quote philosophers while arguing in what feels like bad faith. Hopefully they take notice.
