I recently made the decision to stop using Mastodon through the web interface, and instead use a TUI (at least when on my computer).
This does change the experience somewhat, but it's also less obtrusive than I had feared, especially with Kitty image support. And on top of that, I no longer have to wait for Firefox to start up and the web interface to load whenever I want to randomly check Mastodon.
With the exception of desktop Signal and various websites that I might look at briefly and then close, Mastodon was the last thing that I regularly opened a traditional browser window for. I'm starting to feel like I've crossed a threshold here, in some sense at least.

I don’t usually like visual novels, but this one looks too spicy to ignore.
The pitch: Andy teams up with her imaginary fish friend, Fishy, and sets off on a reckless cross-country road trip. The goal? Crash her ex-best friend’s wedding—a wedding she wasn’t even invited to. That’s already dripping with drama, but the developer, Alex Lee of Shark and Pelican Games, describes it as a story about the death of a friendship. So don’t expect any neat bows or tidy resolutions here. This trip is going to sting.
Instead of playing it safe, the game leans into awkward diner food, bad gas station snacks, long stretches of road, and the heavy weight of what happens when people drift apart. And Fishy, dressed in overalls and big-eyed sincerity, adds a surreal layer to the whole thing—equal parts comic relief and emotional gut-check.
It’s not a long ride—1–2 hours tops—but that’s exactly what makes it tempting. Short, sharp, and unapologetic. There’s point-and-click flavor sprinkled in, a full original soundtrack, and even a surprise cameo tossed in for good measure. The Steam tagline nails it: closure sold separately.
On the practical side, it runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux natively. No Proton headaches. And the kicker? It’s free.
I may not be a visual novel guy—but this one feels like the exception. It’s giving me the sense of a midnight drive where you know you shouldn’t go, but can’t help stepping on the gas anyway.
