Falla critica in Linux: scoperta vulnerabilità con CVSS 8.5 nel demone UDisks
Una falla critica nella sicurezza del demone Linux UDisks è stata rilevata recentemente, che consente a potenziali malintenzionati senza privilegi di accedere a file appartenenti ad utenti con privilegi elevati. La vulnerabilità, catalogata come CVE-2025-8067, è stata resa pubblica il 28 agosto 2025, con un punteggio CVSS v3 di 8,5, che ne sottolinea l’importanza.
Si tratta di un errore nella convalida degli input nel gestore dei dispositivi del demone UDisks che provoca la vulnerabilità. Questo gestore elabora le richieste attraverso l’interfaccia D-BUS. La falla si manifesta quando il demone elabora due parametri specifici: un valore di indice che determina il file di supporto per la creazione del dispositivo loop e l’elenco dei descrittori dei file.
Sebbene il demone convalidi correttamente il parametro indice per evitare che superi i valori massimi consentiti, non riesce a convalidare il limite inferiore. Questa svista consente agli aggressori di fornire valori di indice negativi, determinando una condizione di lettura fuori limite classificata come CWE-125.
La vulnerabilità consente agli utenti non privilegiati di creare dispositivi loop tramite l’interfaccia di sistema D-BUS, causando potenzialmente l’arresto anomalo del demone UDisks o, cosa ancora più grave, facilitando l’escalation dei privilegi locali .
Gli aggressori possono sfruttare questa falla per accedere ai file sensibili di proprietà di utenti privilegiati, aggirando i normali controlli delle autorizzazioni. Il ricercatore di sicurezza Michael Imfeld ha scoperto e segnalato questa vulnerabilità a Red Hat. Il team Product Security di Red Hat ha classificato questa vulnerabilità come importante a causa della sua bassa complessità di sfruttamento e del significativo potenziale di escalation dei privilegi.
Il vettore CVSS v3 CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:H indica un vettore di attacco locale con bassa complessità, che non richiede privilegi o interazione da parte dell’utente. La vulnerabilità ha un ambito modificato con basso impatto sulla riservatezza e sull’integrità ma elevato impatto sulla disponibilità.
L’impatto tecnico include la potenziale divulgazione della memoria di chiavi crittografiche, informazioni personali identificabili e indirizzi di memoria che potrebbero aggirare le protezioni ASLR (Address Space Layout Randomization).

On 13 October 1923 a massive explosion rocked Warsaw when its Citadel, hosting garrison and ammunition depot was blown up, killing 200 people.[^1] The perpetrators were local members of the Communist Party of Poland, closely related to the Bolshevik movement.
Poland was plagued by sabotage, explosions and assassinations for the next 20 years. Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR), the predecessor of USSR, denied any involvement, and no hard evidence was ever presented - Polish state was practically rebuilt from scratch in 1919 and the forensic methods existing back then left much to be desired.
But in 1929 Moscow decided to recall a Soviet diplomat in Europe, Georgy Besedovsky. Back then, “recall” meant almost certain execution so he made a quick decision and simply defected to the West. Shortly after his memoirs were published in France, where Besedovsky - working as Soviet diplomat in Poland for most of 1920’s - documented a long sequence of assassinations, sabotage, infiltration, espionage etc conducted by Soviet GRU in Poland. For example, in 1924 Besedovsky wrote[^2]:
Immediately on his arrival in Warsaw, Orlovsky set out to clean the Augean stables inherited from his predecessor. This was hard work indeed. The fireproof safes in secret rooms were chock-full of explosives, bombs, hand grenades. Somewhere in the legation attics there were several containers with poisonous gases hidden there—for an unknown purpose—still at the time of [Mechislav] Loganovsky. This inheritance had to be disposed of as soon as possible and Orlovsky did the job indeed. Most of the explosives were sent back to Berlin, to the GRU headquarters for Europe (Glavnoye Politicheskoye Upravlenye) headed by one Michał Gorb; the rest was sunk in the Vistula from a motor boat purchased by Voykov.
For reference, here’s the first point of the Riga Treaty, signed by RSFSR after it failed its invasion on Poland in 1920:

@hamsterhuey in fairness to this and other archives, I'm sure their digitisation projects often rely on interns or part-time admin staff, not professional archivists, under pressure to scan and upload large quantities of items.
Maybe not in this case, but often the physical materials were likely collected decades ago and have sat in folders/boxes without any indexing of individual items, and at a time when easy googling for date/place clues wasn't an option.

Cloudflare, que gestiona aproximadament una cinquena part del trànsit global d’Internet, ha analitzat el ratio entre La freqüència d'escanneig que fan els bots de les impreses d'IA per indexar contingut per tal d'incorporar-lo als seus coneixements, i el número de visites d'humans que reben els llocs webs utilitzats en les respostes de les IA, les dades son demolidores.
Agafeu-vos fort:
El rastrejador d'Anthropic rastreja 50.000 vegades un lloc per cada visita humana que la seva IA hi envia, el d'OpenAI 887 per cada visita, i Perplexity, 118 rastrejos per cada visita.
Cloudflare apunta que:
- El 78% dels rastreigs serveixen per entrenament de models.
- Només el 3,5% provenen d’accions d’usuari.
- El 17,4% tenen finalitat de cerca.
- Molts bots ignoren les instruccions del robots.txt.
Entre els cinc principals bots, els més actius són:
- GPTBot (OpenAI): 24,8% del total
- ClaudeBot (Anthropic): 23,6%
- Meta-ExternalAgent: 18,5%

Really getting into Strudel for the last 24 hours. It's basically tidalcycles live coding but in-browser.
I made a little jazz band noodling/comping over a 12-bar blues:
