Absolutely disgusting way of profit-maximization.

I know a retail software company (EU based) that uses AI to power dynamic pricing. But it's for the entire store (=anonymous) and e.g. helps to lower food waste and thus loss for the company.

That same company has a scanless store solution that uses LIDAR instead of cameras, to keep up privacy as much as possible.

For crying out loud. I thought of exactly this when shopping yesterday: how long before those electronic tags start adjusting the price based on who is looking at it.

And I’m sure they’ll force client IDing by defaulting to highest price and then offering “rebates” based on your profile.

Might create a “buyer” business with people who manage to have best rebates and do the shopping for others. 🤬

Suggestions (at least at Kroger)

▪️Do NOT install store app
▪️Do NOT use "digital coupons"
▪️Do NOT use a "Kroger (loyalty) card" - instead, ask a cashier; they have a loyalty card they'll use -- you pay "sale" price without compromising your privacy

I'll add: digital display price changes should only be while the store is CLOSED.

Should a price change after it's in my shopping cart I consider that #fraud without sufficient notification.

Lack of antitrust enforcement is inherently anti-capitalist.

If someone wants to see capitalism collapse, preventing enforcement of antitrust laws is a very reliable way to do it. You can point at the results and say “See? Capitalism doesn’t work. We should try something else.”
