This bowl is a phiale—libation bowl—from Greek and dates to C4th–C3rd BCE. It is NOT the bowl the Romans made for Apollo but it gives a sense of what such an artefact may have looked like.

Description from the Met: “Inscribed on the base sketchily in Greek, "Pausi[ ]," and more deeply engraved in Punic (Carthaginian) characters, an indication of weight. This libation bowl, decorated with bees, acorns, and beechnuts, is worked in repoussé. Phialai decorated with acorns were being made by the late C6th BCE and must have been traditional. Acorns could also be seen on the phialai held by the caryatids of the Erechtheum on the Akropolis in Athens, as we learn from Roman copies found in Hadrian's villa at Tivoli.”

This is a low contrast black and white street photo of a People's Republic of China Army soldier on ceremonial guard duty standing to attention in front of a giant portrait of Mao Zedong. In the centre of the photo is the young soldier dressed smartly in a dark uniform, wearing a cap and white gloves. He is standing to attention in a small glass booth a little over a metre high with a hinged glass door left open to the left, I imagine this is to give some comfort in the bitter winter and scorching summer. @cafou Possiblement. Mais possiblement pas de la même manière. Moi je sature des gens ici qui ont une opinion très arrêtée sur le sujet, souvent limitée à quelques poncifs pas bien malins. Moi je trouve que, oui, y'a un billshit marketing extrêment envahissant mais au-delà de ça, c'est un domaine de recherche extrêmement fascinant qui pose des question philisophiques vieilles mais plus si théoriques que ça. Et ça mérite qu'on en parle intelligemment.
