Manche Einwände sind einfach lächerlich. Die "Anti-Gender-Initiative" ist im letzten Jahr wegen zu wenigen Unterschriften gescheitert. Dann hat sie dagegen geklagt, weil sie meinte, dass die Stadt Volksbegehren unmöglich mache und dafür sorge, dass diese nicht erfolgreich sein können (was nicht stimmt, denn es gibt viele erfolgreiche Volksbegehren). Und dann kam noch die Beschwerde, dass die Unterschriftensammlung in einem schlechten Zeitraum gefallen sei. Allerdings wird der Zeitraum durch die Initiative selber bestimmt. Ich kann mich noch beim Radentscheid daran erinnern, dass wir das sehr genau geplant hatten, wann welche Stufe erfolgen würde.
So oder so: Die Initiative gehört zu der Kategorie "Schlechte Verlierer".

Die CDU hat es trotzdem durchgesetzt, da damals die Volksentscheide noch nicht bindend waren. Das wurde in der Zwischenzeit aber geändert.

Die hessische Polizei geht systematisch alle Personen in ihren Datenbanken durch, bei denen sie einen Hinweis auf eine „Psychische und Verhaltensstörung“ gespeichert hat. Das sind 1.600 Menschen. Damit will sie Risiken für Gewalttaten erkennen und etwa Gefährderansprachen oder Überwachung planen. Um Betroffene zu unterstützen, bräuchte es andere Maßnahmen.

in reply to RealJournalism • • •I agree entirely with your point and the crisis of the situation, but is CoL in Sherman Oaks so wildly high that even living in their existing dwelling, with health insurance for the daughter at $600, it costs a further ~$4400 per MONTH to keep her transported, fed, and cared for? There's something else alarming in this picture, perhaps systemic like high (undisclosed) medical expenses.
(If not, then even with M4A, UBI would fall far short of letting her live independently.)

In this story, the $5,000 per month isn't about the cost of renting a dwelling (because they are letting her live in their home), it's about whatever additional expenses the parents have decided to cover, presumably because they can't say "no" to their 27-year-old child.
Quite frankly, this is a story about this particular parent/child relationship, not the high cost of living.

I'll just side bar for a second and say what cwicseolfor says might be true regarding medical expenses. However, I'd expect the narrative to emphasize medical if that were the case.
For example, my guess is she's spending over $1k/month on nights out with friends.
