As Torsten Bell becomes (for now) Rachel Reeves go to expert on tax reform ahead of the budget, there is (if the FT is typical) a rush to revisit what he wrote & opined when he was as the Resolution Foundation.... it will be interesting to see how some of his economically sensible, if politically difficult proposals (from reform of local property taxation, to shifting the taxation of pensions away from the tax free lump sum) play out in the next months...
Well, of course, why would the HMRC have software that could deal with changes in the tax regime... its not like they happen too often
@djr2024 A right ****ing pain. And it had to happen the one year I've actually got to fill in those pages - lots more work for me to do. Can I face doing it tomorrow I wonder?
(For larger amounts I'd just pay an accountant to do it for me. But for the amounts involved it's not worth it.)
