This is the weirdest vanity license yet;

This license starts with what OSI call the "MIT" license, which permits anyone to;
"... use it without limitation, including without limitation the right to use, copy, modify, merge it."
But tries to modify it by tacking on;
"It is not allowed to create and/or redistribute a new product/project with the source code of
this software whose purpose is to provide the same functionality as this software."
So... which is it?

This is a living breathing example of the paradox of people trying to do "open source" without the respecting people's software freedoms bit.
The developers here use "MIT", because they're a member of the tribe who always choose that over GPL (hoik ... patooey!). But they've either never read the "MIT" license text, or never thought about what it means in practice.

The whole idea of "open source" from the start is to avoid respecting people's freedom and to prevent people from learning that software freedom is even a thing - the money from the corporations is more important.
Yes, it is extremely common for people to go and write a proprietary license for their software while not even bothering to make the license text even make any sense (I figure if that license becomes popular, the "open source institute" would gladly approve it like the 2 other proprietary licenses they have approved).

I have been thinking in the general direction of doing a bit of streaming where I handsew stuff while talking about handsewing and the project I'm making and general craft things, maybe later in September, would anybody be interested?
