This week-end, I went to Hersheypark, an amusement park located in the former company town of Hershey, Pennsylvania, erected by Milton Hershey who founded the eponymous terrible chocolate sweets empire. This park was initially built in 1906 and has gown organically since, constrained by surrounding residential neighborhoods.
As a result, it is extremely awkward to go around, the map is unhelpful as coasters are so intertwined it’s hard to figure out where the entrance is for either, and the park is built in a creek valley that makes every trip between rides a hill climb.
Some unique rides like the parallel Lightning Racer roller coasters makes it an interesting stop, but having experienced more convenient parks makes the novelty wear off pretty fast.
@Ji Fu I can't agree with you there. It's personal taste, of course, but I wouldn't take a Hershey chocolate bar for free. However, I met several Americans who both swear by Hershey chocolate and have never tried the kind of chocolate you can get in France. I also met a few Americans who have and won't defend Hershey anymore.
To me this shows that Hershey is the best chocolate in the US practically by default, which isn't much to be proud about. Lowering the quality of a luxury hoping it will never be compared with the real thing isn't my idea of "always good". It feels like counterfeit even though I know it isn't.
