Street Art for Ukraine (14 Photos)
Since Russia invaded Ukraine street artists worldwide have wielded their brushes and spray paints, creating a powerful collection of anti-war murals and protest art.
These artists visually express their resistance to the war in Ukraine and advocate for fundamental human rights and values. We’ve curated a collection of street art by artists who dedicate their creative talents to supporting peace in Ukraine. These striking pieces serve as reminders of the human cost of war while displaying solidarity against the conflict in Ukraine, often alongside fundraising efforts.
1.
Sasha Korban
Sasha Korban‘s mural in Kyiv emerged in April 2022, as battles for the liberation of Bucha and Irpin unfolded nearby. His work, characterized by a fusion of photorealism and Pop Art, has evolved to reflect violent power struggles. Korban’s large-scale murals promote peace throughout Ukraine, including a 2018 piece titled Milana in Mariupol, a city facing a devastating humanitarian crisis.2.
Justus Becker
German artist Justus Becker painted a giant dove of peace for Ukraine on the exterior of a downtown Frankfurt building. The dove holds an olive branch in Ukraine’s national colors, symbolizing hope and solidarity. Becker spent three days creating this powerful street art piece.3.
Christian Guemy
French street artist Christian Guemy, also known as C215, flew to Ukraine to paint serene and innocent images on Kyiv’s walls as the war broke out. Following the Russian invasion, the former Banksy collaborator created a massive mural of a girl in Ukrainian flag colors on a Paris apartment building.Despite the risks, C215 felt compelled to travel to Ukraine to help in any way he could. He has since painted several murals across Kyiv, including a poignant image of a girl wearing a flower headband near a heavily damaged metro station. Seth Globepainter
Paris-based muralist Julien Malland, known as Seth Globepainter, creates art that captures local communities’ cultural and socioeconomic nuances. Malland’s work in Paris’s 13th arrondissement blends his recurring theme of childhood play with symbols of war, expressing hope for a better future.5.
HIJACK
Los Angeles street artist HIJACK opposes Putin’s war on Ukraine, giving a voice to children suffering in the war-torn country or fleeing brutal bombings. His feline silhouette piece titled War Child appeared on a building wall in Fairfax, Los Angeles. Like many fellow street artists, HIJACK has released prints of his work to support Ukrainian families and children during this crisis. Krišs Salmanis
In Riga, Latvia’s capital, the Museum of the History of Medicine showcased a large banner featuring a skull-shaped portrait of Vladimir Putin on its facade. Positioned opposite the Russian Embassy of Latvia, the museum conveys a strong stance against the war in Ukraine. Conceptual artist Krišs Salmanis created the poster, which was initially commissioned as the cover image for Ir magazine. More photos.7.
TUSE
A mural depicting Putin, Hitler, and Stalin with the slogan “No More Time” adorns a wall outside the PKM Gdansk Jasien railway station. This powerful piece is the first in a series of anti-war “Solidarity with Ukraine” murals emerging in Gdansk and is the work of renowned Polish street artist Piotr Tuse Jaworski, better known as TUSE.8.
Pappas Pärlor
Swedish street artist Johan Karlgren, known as Pappas Pärlor, crafts interactive street art that enlivens everyday environments. His pixelated characters, inspired by his love for old-school video games, bring a unique touch to his creations. In Motala, Sweden, Pappas Pärlor used this signature style to depict Putin behind bars, adding his voice to the global artistic protest against the war in Ukraine. Anyway, great content as always! Thank you!
Love the art, but totally agree with @artwaw. First public, and subsequent posts in thread unlisted.
Once you’re done with a long thread could do make last one public, and include “end of thread,” or “21 of 21; click to see unlisted posts”
Something I did that may be worth considering.
Every day an automated account of mine - @CarrickfergusToday - posts a thread of news and stuff. But only the first post is from that account. The rest of the thread is from a more private account - @CarrickfergusTodayAux - that rejects follows.
That way people who follow 'Carrickfergus Today' see the first daily post in their timeline and can click to expand it, but all the threaded posts don't clutter their feed.
Your examples of street art give me a daily dose of relaxation, making me realize that no matter what happens, creativity will find a way to express itself, all over the world.
And that people everywhere are willing to pay for art.
looked as if it were painted like an advertisement on a board
on the roadside and indeed very poorly painted. It looked
completely false and unconvincing. It did not seem to have any depth or breadth and looked as if it would not deceive
a child. ... What bewildered me was the sure knowledge ... that this was the house I was searching for and that there were people inside it."

The 26-year-old was allegedly detained with a gun, bullets, fake IDs, cash and a handwritten "manifesto".Madeline Halpert & Mike Wendling (BBC News)
@KarenStrickholm
The guy who murdered the UHC CEO.
I don't defend UHC or Health Insurance CEO's making millions in exchange for denying claims, but the CEO had a wife & kids. And now they see their father's killer being glorified by protesters.
It's every bit as immoral & depraved as the misdeeds of the CEO's they condemn. 😞
Life is way less valuable than property, so depriving assholes of theyre dirty money is unthinkable, while killing them is justice brought to their victims.
@raptor85 @KarenStrickholm
The UHC CEO wasn't #Hitler.
If you justify using violence b/c you believe you're righting a wrong, you're no better than the #Jan6 terrorists.
He made his money by choosing to prevent people from getting medical care. His death stopped BCBS from going forward with their plan to stop paying for their clients anesthesia based on an arbitrary time limit. From a pure utilitarian POV, that one death spared hundreds of thousands from rushed or immensely painful surgeries, and more than a few deaths that would have resulted from it.
What changed things was voters voting for the green party or the social democratic party.
You should learn that, too, and stop glorifying murder.
Somehow that reminds me of St Olga of Kiev, who killed a bunch of people in revenge for the murder of her husband and somehow still ended up a saint.
The grandmother of the prince who spread Christianity in Russia.

You walk into a jewelry store.
Clearly there has been an attempted robbery.
Both the proprietor and the robbers are dead, lying in pools of fresh blood, victims of mutual shootout. The cameras are sprayed out with black paint.
There is a small satchel of uncut diamonds spilled on the counter and a briefcase full of 100$ bills. Do you;
a) Back out and disappear
b) Call 911 and wait for the cops
c) Take the cash
d) Take the diamonds
e) Take it all
f) Take some of it
g) Contaminate the crime scene by writing with feces on the wall a political slogan
h) Write part name of your enemy with the victims blood, making it look like their last living act

Firearms remain the leading cause of death for young people.
Yes, climate change is critically important.
It is odd however how little discussion we have around firearm violence as compared to climate change given the facts.
This should not be a zero-sum game. I genuinely wish public discourse did not make it seem so.

And they have more in common with each other than they do with us
Billionaires have no nation,
no loyalty to their fellow citizens
Imagine if your currency is gold.
If gold is concentrated in small number of people your economy is screwed, because the amount is finite.
90% of people don't have gold to spend or they will fight each other for those bits
But what if the government can print out gold and dilute its value. There is an illusion of people having gold but their worth is diluted.
Soon it will be more concentrated and the small people balloon in wealth while the rest keep their more diluted gold.
You have a very simple and childlike view of negative human behavior. You're basically saying, "If you do bad things, you're a monster," which is certainly true for many people, but is too broad of a generalization of human behavior that doesn't take into account the outside factors such as upbringing, indoctrination, and peer pressure, that cause some people to do horrible things without realizing the full gravity of their actions. 1/2
That's not what I said at all. I acknowledged the existence of genuinely bad people. I'm only saying that labeling every single person who does bad things as a monster is overly simplistic because it doesn't take into consideration the many factors that caused them to take their actions and just generalizes them as "monsters." It's unscientific and fallacious thinking.

Joyful Street Art (36 Photos)
David Zinn has a special way of making sidewalks and streets feel like magical places. With just chalk, charcoal, and a big imagination, he creates fun characters that seem to come to life.
You might find them hiding in cracks, climbing up curbs, or peeking out of manhole covers. His art is temporary, but it always brings smiles to people passing by. From Sluggo, the friendly green monster, to Philomena, the flying pig, his characters fit perfectly into the world around them. Keep scrolling to see some of his newest chalk creations that brighten up the streets!Follow David Zinn here!: Instagram / Website

A red line shows a steep drop. At the lower right of the graph is a picture of Elon Musk doing the Nazi salute, his outstretched arm connects with the falling trajectory at the end of the red line.

It can't be because he's free to ruin every institution in America with DOGE while stealing gov contracts from other companies.
