Where Rs have had power (red states) they've kept doubling down on taking rights, giving money to the rich, reducing gov so that it does nothing (or worse, punishes) the people...
#softsecession is protecting blue states from that BS
But Rs want to turn the whole country in TX, FL, and Arkansas.
The answer is (clearly, to me) that you evict the international criminal gang in the WH and restore the functions of the federal government so that it serves the people.
But will people choose this?
Not until a lot people start connecting dots they've been super unwilling to connect before.

@energisch_ yes, that's hard to do, and I think the people for whom interrogating the world and their narratives about it is something they routinely do have *already done it*... so the question is when/how it becomes a skill others discover is valuable to learn.
There's not one answer to that.
I know a LOT of people who were big evangelicals or conservatives who had to deconstruct their belief system. It's certainly possible. But they have to WANT to do it. And that's diff for everyone.
Humans are too good at escaping reality till it hits full force.
@energisch_ It's important to remember that people are not a monolith. So what you say is true for *some* — they will absolutely deny reality and cling to their ideology all the way to the grave. We saw it happen in COVID, we see it all the time.
And then there are those who deconstruct their religion and leave behind their community (for all kinds of reasons).
And some who finally have one thing too many and now they're PISSED and will take down the people they believed in before.
Various safety nets, through loyal officials in the government system, prevented the worst from happening during the first Trump administration.
Now they have been doged and ICE is running amok.
Sometimes you want to stand next to it and watch the world burn.
The problem is that the fire is spreading.
@RoyAhoi I have zero desire to watch the world burn. And I think that desire is part of the problem in so so many ways.
My focus (now and always) is to fight the fascists and work on building a better world.
It is not my first language.
I want to see "their view of the world burn".
When the nice simple solutions and simple views of complex problems and systems suddenly have a rat's tail of consequences behind them.

Their own stubbornness and arrogance has then suddenly destroyed the foundations of their lives on which they had been resting. Cheap prices for basic foodstuffs are not possible without cheap, sometimes illegal, labor. Diseases spread when ideology determines what is medicine and what is not... Their world is burning and they refuse to see it.

I think it's worth trying to understand how that process actually happens, what the challenges are (often losing community) and how we can make it happen with the least amount of collateral damage (ie the foundation of their lives is suddenly destroyed so they decide to become a mass shooter)
When your ideology is your self-worth, truth feels like an attack.
Then you don't reflect - then you fight.
Because insight hurts.
And anger numbs.
And needs a target!
That ist the reason for conspiracy myths.
The enemy is still there, hidden.
The myth will survive, cause it has to.
This is one of the insights that the Germans have gained from two world wars.
It's still a problem today...
