Whereas with Zsh ${my_array} expands to the full array (minus empty strings for some reason, you need the [@] to include empty arguments) which is, you know, what you actually want rather than just the first element lol.

The rule for this situation was when one of us cut or otherwise divided a thing to be shared, the other got to choose which piece they wanted. This encouraged dividing the thing as fairly as possible, defusing "they took the big piece!" arguments with "you should have cut more evenly, then!"
It stuck with me, and whenever I split a thing I still automatically give the other person the first choice.
