I always thought that a wealth tax made more sense than income tax. Some people will be needing all their income just to live. Others may be doing really great things with their extra income. Excess wealth just sits there.
But I am wondering, what thresholds and what rates might be appropriate? Are we talking billionaires or mere millionaires. Bearing in mind that the average house is now over 1 million in many places.
Im thinking a total combined net worth of say 10 million?? Make it progressive so that it taxes billionaires more than the Tenmillionaires.

Yes, one of the things that really got to Sue and I, on occasions with a couple of repair cafes, was the feeling that we were getting taken for granted, that we'd always be there, and would work like the clappers to repair everything unsupported and without a break.
The meet and greet volunteers we like have been the ones who checked what the repair was, and developed an understanding of how involved it would be. They would then check if a repairer was up to the task of something very involved, and also remind the repairer to stop and have a break if they looked like they needed it.
Also all the volunteers need a little socialising time to get to know each other too. That way we feel comfortable asking each other for help and advice, or to borrow a tool, or to ask for, or offer, clean up stuff after a messy vacuum cleaner.

Big Tech fremstilles som farlig og altgennemtrængende – men kritikken fremføres ofte på selvsamme platforme. Politikere og debattører advarer mod SoMe, mens de tweeter, poster og liker videre. Hvis Facebook var så skadelig, hvorfor bruger de den stadig? Hvis problemet er alvorligt, så vis det med handling – fx ved at vælge Mastodon. Det ville være mere overbevisende end endnu en tråd på X.

For me the gold standard for interesting reads is still the hackernews comments. Very illuminative how different their guidelines are worded:

For instance:
- Count of the word 'please': 25
=> fosstodon: zero
- "Please don't use uppercase for emphasis."
=> fosstodon: shouts users DOs and DON'Ts right in the face
Anyhow, I try my best to follow the guidelines, so my main take away is:
"Assume good faith"

Well... get to know the second person.
The HN mods are really good. Sure, some comments are elitist, but the tone is usually quite calm and reasonable.
For example, while HN usually avoids most political news, take a look at this one: news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4…
The most inflammatory comment is "I think Netanyahu belongs in prison". Imagine this discussion on Mastodon. I can already see the slurs.

I am a bit confused about point 2 from the covenant, though. "Impact before intentions" suggest to moderate posts that have negative impact, even if the poster has (or declares to have) positive intentions, but that seems to conflict with "believing people". Also "when their own actions show us who they are" seems to again encourage judgement based on actions rather than intent.
Maybe the wording of it could be improved?
