ECE 4760/5730 is the Digital Systems Design Using Microcontrollers course at Cornell University taught by [Hunter Adams]. The list of projects for spring this year includes forty write-ups — if you haven’t got time to read the whole lot you can pick a random project between 1 and 40 with: shuf -i 1-40 -n 1 and let the cards fall where they may. We won’t pick favorites from this semester’s list of projects, but having skimmed through the forty reports we can tell you that the creativity and acumen of the students really shines through. If the name [Hunter Adams] looks familiar that might be because we’ve featured his work here on Hackaday before. Earlier this year we saw his Love Letter To Embedded Systems.
While on the subject, [Hunter] also wanted us to know that he has updated his lectures, which are here: Raspberry Pi Pico Lectures 2025. Particularly these have expanded to include a bunch of Pico W content (making Bluetooth servers, connecting to WiFi, UDP communication, etc.), and some fun lower-level stuff (the RP2040 boot sequence, how to write a bootloader), and some interesting algorithms (FFT’s, physics modeling, etc.).

En los audios divulgados hace unos días por el canal Carnaval stream se oye, presuntamente, la voz de Diego Spagnuolo —amigo íntimo, exabogado de Milei y hasta hace unos días responsable de la Agencia Nacional de Discapacidad (ANDIS)—, quien acusa de haber recibido sobornos millonarios a Karina Milei y a su mano derecha en la Secretaría General de la Presidencia, Eduardo Lule Menem. Además, estaría también implicado Martín Menem, presidente de la Cámara de Diputados y primo segundo de Eduardo.
La gravedad del escándalo se multiplica por el hecho de que los supuestos sobornos se obtenían a partir de los fondos destinados a la compra de medicamentos para personas con discapacidad. Supone, además, la resurrección en el farragoso mundo de la corrupción de un apellido (Menem) asociado históricamente a la malversación pública. Martín Menem es sobrino de Carlos Menem (presidente del país entre 1989 y 1999, fallecido en 2021 e implicado en varios casos de corrupción). “Son genéticamente voraces”, dijo de ellos Alejandro Fantino, uno de los comunicadores más populares de Argentina, alineado con Milei, a quien lanzó al estrellato como tertuliano de televisión hace una década.
El escándalo de los sobreprecios a los medicamentos de los discapacitados, ya en manos de la justicia, no es el único que ha afectado a Milei este año. En febrero se vio envuelto en un turbio asunto al promocionar en sus redes sociales una criptomoneda llamada $Libra que acabó desplomándose tras dispararse durante unos minutos, el tiempo suficiente para enriquecer a unos pocos y arruinar a miles.
Pero la relevancia política y social de este nuevo caso es mucho mayor. La motosierra de Milei ha apuntado sus dientes hacia los colectivos más vulnerables, entre ellos los discapacitados. Mientras Spagnuolo se quejaba de los supuestos trapicheos de Karina Milei y los Menem, ejecutaba desde la ANDIS un plan draconiano de suspensión de pensiones. La Casa Rosada tiene previsto retirar las ayudas a casi medio millón de beneficiarios (de los 1,2 millones actuales). Cientos de damnificados se agolpan estos días en las oficinas públicas para preguntar por qué han dejado de percibir, repentinamente y sin notificación previa, su ya raquítica ayuda (280.000 pesos, unos 240 euros).
En el presunto mecanismo de corrupción, los laboratorios de medicamentos habrían destinado un 8% de comisión (un 3% para Karina y el resto para los demás miembros de la trama) a través de la comercializadora farmacéutica Suizo-Argentina, una empresa que aumentó su facturación más de un 2.600% en el último año y cuyos dueños están ahora en la mira de la justicia. El monto defraudado, siempre según el relato de Spagnuolo, ascendía a entre 500.000 y 800.000 dólares al mes.
El exresponsable de ANDIS asegura en esos audios, filtrados por un interlocutor sin permiso previo aparente, que alertó hace tiempo al presidente del entramado de corrupción. Tras varios días en silencio y con el escándalo en boca de todos, Milei negó el miércoles las acusaciones de su antiguo amigo, al que acaba de cesar: “Todo lo que dice (Spagnuolo) es mentira. Lo vamos a llevar a la justicia y vamos a probar que mintió”.
Milei ha preferido cortarle la cabeza al mensajero porque Karina es intocable. Por algo la llaman El Jefe, así, en masculino. Es mucho más que una hermana. Es su consejera áulica, una muleta irreemplazable del mandatario, la médium a través de la cual él dice hablar con su perro Conan, fallecido hace años, la persona que hace y deshace a su antojo en la corte libertaria. Sin experiencia política previa, fue una pieza clave para la victoria electoral de Javier Milei en 2023. En los audios, Spagnuolo no tiene piedad con ella: “Karina es una mina que hacía tortas, tiraba las cartas y hoy maneja todo esto, ¿cómo hacés?”.
La primera declaración pública de Milei sobre el caso se produjo durante su fallido recorrido por Lomas de Zamora, la localidad bonaerense, donde su caravana fue apedreada por un grupo de personas que protestaba por la carestía de la vida y los casos de corrupción. Se trata de una localidad del conurbano bonaerense muy castigada por la política de ajustes de Milei, que se ha cebado con las capas más desfavorecidas de la sociedad. El acto electoral que se iba a celebrar en la plaza del municipio fue cancelado y Milei y sus colaboradores fueron rápidamente evacuados del lugar por el equipo de seguridad. La escena refleja el momento de debilidad que atraviesa el Gobierno. Para Milei, todo ha sido orquestado por el kirchnerismo, su némesis a la que siempre recurre para justificar sus acciones.
La popularidad del presidente argentino ha ido a la baja desde que estalló el escándalo. Según la consultora Tres Punto Zero (la primera que ha realizado mediciones tras la divulgación de los audios), su imagen positiva es del 39,8%, mientras que hace tan solo dos meses rondaba el 50%. Por delante de Milei aparecen Axel Kicillof, gobernador de la provincia de Buenos Aires y principal activo del peronismo (43,8%), y la expresidenta Cristina Fernández de Kirchner (41,8%), recluida en prisión domiciliaria desde hace dos meses y medio por una condena por corrupción calificada por el kirchnerismo como un caso de lawfare.
La caída en su popularidad llega en el peor momento para Milei. El 7 de septiembre se celebran elecciones legislativas en la provincia de Buenos Aires y el 26 de octubre será el turno de los comicios legislativos nacionales de medio término, con la renovación parcial del Congreso. La primera cita cobra ahora relevancia para medir la fuerza electoral con que cuenta el mandatario en la provincia más populosa del país, con cerca del 40% del padrón electoral. Los sondeos para esos comicios sitúan a la coalición peronista Fuerza Patria y a mileísta La Libertad Avanza en un empate técnico. El partido de Milei ha absorbido a la derecha tradicional del PRO (Propuesta Republicana), la formación del expresidente Mauricio Macri (2015-2019). Por su parte, el peronismo se encuentra todavía en un periodo de recomposición tras la debacle electoral de 2023.
Pero la gran batalla electoral se librará en las legislativas nacionales de octubre. La Libertad Avanza es hoy una fuerza minoritaria en un Congreso que últimamente rechaza casi todas las propuestas del oficialismo. Milei necesita una victoria clara para sacar adelante su agenda en los dos últimos años de su mandato. No lo tendrá fácil. El plan económico del Gobierno no acaba de cuajar. Se ha logrado reducir drásticamente la inflación (del 211% al 36%), pero a costa de un continuo endeudamiento, la paralización de la obra pública, la congelación salarial y el recorte de las pensiones. El consumo se ha estancado y a seis de cada diez argentinos les cuesta llegar a fin de mes, según una encuesta reciente de la consultora Zuban Córdoba y Asociados.
A Milei se le agota el relato, pero cuenta todavía con el respaldo de las élites económicas y los grandes medios de comunicación. De momento, no le soltarán la mano. Como tampoco lo han hecho el Fondo Monetario Internacional (le ha concedido un préstamo de 20.000 millones de dólares) y su amigo Donald Trump, su padrino ideológico. A su favor juega, además, el hecho de haberse erigido en el nuevo abanderado del antiperonismo, un sentimiento que une a la mitad de los argentinos.

But after that is a lovely little estuary park, seemingly designed for planespotters. I admit, I did stop to wait to watch a A380 take off.
