She won't be able to play in my friends' excellent yard with her friend Jack for a long while (in dog time).
He's in quarantine for 45 days. Even though he's a slender whippet (33 lbs of muscle), he got hold of an encroaching raccoon and was in the process of killing it. My friend got him to stop, but in the altercation Jack got a scratch or small bite. He got a rabies booster and now we have to wait.
They were both kind of shocked at how aggressive he was. I think we often forget that our cute little furry friends are still and always predators and will protect their territory and their people (human and otherwise).

We love fantastically narrow and twisty slot canyons, but those are more of the exception to the rule. You can find those in Death Valley, but more likely you’ll find a scene like this one, at least in canyons that run through steep, rocky mountain ranges, like this one on the east side of the valley. Through much of its length it is more than wide enough that a vehicle could pass, if they were allowed here.
