#GiftLink 'Studies suggest removing one million people from the rolls for one year could result in about 1,000 additional deaths. It follows that removing more than 11 million people for a decade would likely result in more than 100,000 deaths. Because this figure fails to take account of the degradation of service to those who remain eligible — it could well be an underestimate.'

Lawerence Summers should have thought about that when he and his neoliberal buddies ensured that someone like a Trump would emerge from their austerity and billionaire empowerment policies of the Clinton and Obama administrations

My mom had a copy of an Onion omnibus at home when I was a kid. Looking back, I learned a lot about critical thinking and media literacy from reading The Onion. Same goes with Mad Magazine.

my first good tech job was at a small ISP where my manager was previously a managing editor(?) at The Onion. Dude was great to work for, very funny too.

Some benchmarks comparing Wayland and X11 performance on KDE neon: dedoimedo.com/computers/waylan…
in reply to DistroWatch

It may be, but again, KDE Neon isn't really a good distro to test KDE surprisingly because of its older base and lack of stability.

And I'd argue that could change the results.

in reply to Cameron Bosch

@cameron_bosch You think KDE neon, a distro on a _stable_ base with the latest version of vanilla KDE software is a _bad_ choice for testing KDE software? That makes zero sense.

KDE neon doesn't have any stability issues, it's a rock solid LTS base with vanilla Plasma packages. It's primary purpose is to test KDE software, exactly in situations like this.

A massive warehouse fire with explosions is raging in the Russian city of Rostov, covering an area between 2,200 and 9,100 square meters. It is not yet clear what is stored in the warehouses, but it burns nicely.

I have no clue where either #Klipper or #PrusaSlicer takes those values from. Nowhere did I set 40mm/s speed or 3.4mm³/s max flow, the limits are set way higher everywhere… 😐

in reply to Natasha Nox 🇺🇦🇵🇸

At 2000 acc your part need to be larger than 20mm to reach high speeds before decelleration because near edge kicks in.

In your stats are 3m filament only used after more than 100 layers, looks like a small part to me.

in reply to gafu

@gafu True, however the speeds were stable at 40mm/s. I didn't make that screenshot as it fluctuated in any way, it was obviously at a pre-defined maximum of some sort.

Now it adheres to the maximum defined speed (same object, just twice next to each other). The only thing I changed is the maximum flow (more than 8mm³/s, was set way too low for the E3D V6 Volcano). That still makes no sense though, the maximum speed on the last print isn't even near 8mm³/s flow…

A spectacular finding in the barn (literally barn, a tractor is parked nearby)! I might join the #oldcomputerchallenge , casually though - this species is not that old, nor am I competent enough to deploy something too obscure, and on vacation the usecase is so trivial. But look how chunky the boi is - ThickPads are dwarfed.

I know this isn’t really relevant but how the hell do kids these days look so much older than they are. I would have guessed she might be 16 honestly.

Anyways, what a tradgedy.

The EU is urgently seeking ways to cover Ukraine’s projected $19 billion budget deficit for next year, reports the FT. Options under discussion include off-budget military grants, early disbursement of loans from the existing G7-backed $50 billion support package, and further use of frozen Russian state assets. The gap remains unfunded so far.
