As you can see, a lot of people didn't cast many votes. Someone cast 23k votes, with a group of 13 each casting at least 10k votes.
"But of course most people aren't really engaged, most of those 37k people are just NPCs who don't really matter" you say, "Rimu you're just including them to make it seem worse than it is", you might say. Ok, cool, let's pretend the bottom 85% of us don't matter and just look at the top 5000 voters. Here's how the distribution looks among them:

Among those 5000, the top 147 (2.94%) cast as many votes as all the others (4853 people) combined. Among those 5000, the average number of votes cast in a month is 1142. Among the top 147, the average number of votes cast in a month is 6868.
How do you feel about a tiny group having this much influence over what news you receive?

È un piccolo gruppo, sì, che ho scelto io.
Esiste un piccolo gruppo di "votatori seriali"? Ah, e questo come influenzerebbe, addirittura enormemente, il mio "feed"? Non l'ho capito.
Per altro, da quel che capisco nel fediverso votare come "preferito" un messaggio ha ben poca influenza rispetto a rilanciarlo.
Sarà perché non guardo "Di tendenza", ma anche lì, credo che ci finiscano più facilmente messaggi "votati" da 20 persone che magari hanno appoggiato quel singolo messaggio che i 10mila messaggi "votati" anche da tutti e 10 i votatori seriali.
Cioè, capisco, nel fediverso ci sono persone diverse che si comportano in maniera differente, in particolare alcuni inviano un profluvio di stelline. Questo articolo sottolinea che è così, ma non argomenta sul perché questo sia realmente un problema.

Non so se hai provato a iscriverti a feddit.it, l'istanza Lemmy che gestiamo insieme a @Le Alternative; volendo puoi anche aprire la pagina in visualizzazione anonima feddit.it/?dataType=Post&listi… e se clicchi sul link vedrai la visualizzazione filtrata in cui i post vengono ordinati per popolarità.
Questa è una delle modalità preferite dagli utenti Lemmy.
Su Mastodon il discorso non vale se non per chi guarda le tendenze, ma su Mastodon sono i RT che possono alterare la visualizzazione quantitativa nelle timeline.
