...but they're not, though? Machines can't think. They certainly aren't here now, and arguably can't ever be. Yes, the world of work is going to be tumultuous, but largely because far too many people have bought into the unfounded hype, and are now too deeply invested to extract themselves without losing both face and billions, and the upheaval while they figure out that the machines can't in fact do what they want them to do is going to be a nightmare for everyone.

...But please tell me if I'm missing something? Is there *any* evidence or research out there at all of machines actually "thinking", and if so how? Because this seems like the usual bunch of AI-grift-bullshit to me, and I'm alarmed to see The Guardian publish it uncritically

Da qualche mese sto facendo un po' di self-hosting per alcune applicazioni visto che ho un server (con su Ubuntu) su cui gira una versione per i test di Lemmy che altrimenti prenderebbe quasi solo polvere.

Tra le applicazioni che ho installato una delle più carine secondo me è proprio Firefly III. Cercavo da tempo un'app per sostituire Ivy Wallet che ho sempre usato con estremo piacere ma che è stata definitivamente abbandonata e archiviata anche su GitHub.

Firefly III ha un sacco di funzionalità (ne uso un terzo) e si può usare sia tramite accesso web che tramite applicazioni di terze parti (io uso Waterfly III).

L'installazione sul server è stata piuttosto semplice e gira semplicemente dietro Docker quindi si fatto tutto in pochi minuti. Ho avuto solo mezzo problema all'inizio perché m'ero dimenticato di inserire nel file .env TRUSTED_PROXIES e quindi non riuscivo a raggiungere il mio host ma era stato appunto una mia dimenticanza.

Per ora è stabile e non mi ha mai dato problemi, mi piace il fatto che che sia accessibile sia da web che da applicazione.

I was not getting mobile data while at #DebConf25 (Brest, France) on #Librem5. My home network is vi India. Another provider airtel worked, and the same Vi sim worked on an android phone as well as pinephone pro running mobian. On #FLX1 also vi failed but airtel worked.
I manged to get it working after installing a patched ModemManager that uses ppp instead of qmi for data connection. Thanks to @dos for maintaining these patches source.puri.sm/sebastian.krzys…

Bulgarian street artist Vanyu Krastev adds a touch of humor to urban spaces by attaching googly eyes to everyday objects.

From cracked concrete spheres resembling cartoon characters to tree trunks that appear to “smile,” his work transforms mundane surroundings into delightful scenes.

In collaboration with students from Dimitar Petrov Primary School in Sliven, Krastev brought his funny approach to the International Youth Center in Primorsko. Armed with googly eyes, the children explored their environment, turning ordinary shapes into imaginative faces. This unique form of street art is simple but also creative. It invites everyone to see the world with a fresh perspective.
