Back in '96 they made a pet game with an actual neural network, biochemistry and haploid genetics, all local and real-time. Why is no one making a modern version of this? Especially considering current hardware capabilities.

Only conceptual docs and unfinished code at this time, nothing quite ready to show yet. I've been unsatisfied with the cognitive architectures I've read about and trying to conceive of something better.
