We, the undersigned organisations and individuals, urge you in the strongest possible terms to reject the deletion of the Article 49(2) transparency safeguard for high-risk AI systems that is proposed in the AI Omnibus.

The #DigitalOmnibus proposes to remove Article 49(2) from the #AIAct. This would allow AI providers to dodge registration of high-risk systems by self-declaring they’re “not high risk”. This would weaken enforcement, undermine legal certainty & erode fundamental rights, all for €100 saving per company.
Name a worse trade.
We urge EU lawmakers to reject this rollback & uphold the integrity of the AI Act.

Is there any precedent for authors to place code into a trust at the early stage of a project? So that they retain full control until they're ready to relinquish it, but can't transfer rights to any entity besides the FSFE?
I think this would quell a lot of mutual fears between developers, original authors, and users.

Meanwhile, more volunteers, this time in December in Denmark, sent a letter to a Danish parliamentary commission regarding the implementation of the digital wallet. The FSFE local group participated in a follow-up, which was ultimately submitted by IT-Politisk Forening, a local association better equipped to provide input on Danish policy issues. This prompted numerous questions to the Minister about why the upcoming digital wallet is not fully Free Software, as such solutions must be.

1/ 🚨 On Friday, the @European Commission preliminarily found TikTok in breach of the #DSA due to the addictive design of its platform.
🎉 We welcome this decision: the DSA was designed precisely to address systemic risks of this kind, and this case has the potential to push platforms to rethink fundamental design choices rather than rely on easy but ineffective quick fixes.
2/ The Commission's findings highlight a long-standing concern: engagement-optimised design comes at the expense of users’ physical and mental well-being and can pose grave risks to democracy and public debate.
🛑 According to the Commission, features such as infinite scroll, autoplay, push notifications, and highly personalised recommender systems were not adequately assessed by TikTok, and existing risk mitigation measures were found to be insufficient.
3/ 🔜 This decision sends a first clear signal that engagement-driven design constitute a systemic risk, an issue we look forward to seeing addressed in the upcoming #DFA.

Il firmware delle schede madri per PC moderne segue le specifiche UEFI dal 2010. Nel 2013 è apparsa una nuova tecnologia chiamata Secure Boot, pensata per impedire l'installazione e l'esecuzione dei bootkit . Secure Boot impedisce l'esecuzione di codice di programma non firmato o non attendibile (programmi .efi e bootloader del sistema operativo, firmware hardware aggiuntivo come OPROM di schede video e schede di rete). Secure Boot può essere disabilitato su qualsiasi scheda madre, ma un requisito obbligatorio per modificarne lo stato è la presenza fisica dell'utente al computer. È necessario accedere alle impostazioni UEFI all'avvio del computer e solo allora è possibile modificare le impostazioni di Secure Boot.

Besides this not being known to many Irish people, next month Ireland will be the testing ground for the EU Digital ID. I'm really worried and don't want to comply with this tyrannical globalist filth under the guise of "protecting the children".
Sadly the Irish Government are making it (EU Digital ID) mandatory and are planning to extend it when Ireland gains control of the EU Commission in July. It's hard to keep fighting when I seem to be the only one in Ireland fighting against this so-called democratic union, no offense.
Compared with text scanning, this is a massive improvement. I know none of my messages will be scanned or flagged, so I won't be affected as long as the goalposts don't move down the line.
@Anachron hey, it's the guy again who doesn't provide any sources for his "facts". I don't like the Chat Control proposals either, but claiming things such as a 48% false positive rate without any sources is bullcrap. Especially, since the earlier wrongly cited EU document claims a false positive rate of under 0.1%. There are plenty of bad things about Chat Control, without resorting to fake news.
