This is a living breathing example of the paradox of people trying to do "open source" without the respecting people's software freedoms bit.
The developers here use "MIT", because they're a member of the tribe who always choose that over GPL (hoik ... patooey!). But they've either never read the "MIT" license text, or never thought about what it means in practice.

The whole idea of "open source" from the start is to avoid respecting people's freedom and to prevent people from learning that software freedom is even a thing - the money from the corporations is more important.
Yes, it is extremely common for people to go and write a proprietary license for their software while not even bothering to make the license text even make any sense (I figure if that license becomes popular, the "open source institute" would gladly approve it like the 2 other proprietary licenses they have approved).

Lo chiedo al nostro governo, al nostro Ministro degli Esteri, alla Farnesina, perché segua ogni momento di questa spedizione, perché le persone che si imbarcano con la Global Sumud Flotilla sono oggi i veri “patrioti”.
C’è una parte di questo Paese che si è appropriata di parole come patriottismo e nazione. Non sono parole loro. I patrioti sono quelli che si ricordano che questo Paese ha un’anima solidale, che si muove perché non esistono dei figli che vengono prima dei nostri figli o dopo i nostri figli.
Dove c'è un bambino che ha fame e non c'è nessuno che sa rispondere, lì non c'è nessun patriottismo. Nascondersi dietro queste parole per non riconoscere la dignità degli altri è una vergogna.
Noi stasera rappresentiamo l’Italia.
Sono orgogliosa ogni giorno di essere la sindaca di questa città e ancor di più nell'aver visto quanti di voi hanno consegnato tonnellate di cibo per la popolazione di Gaza. Ci impegniamo a seguirvi, ci impegniamo a difendervi istituzionalmente. Sappiate che Genova è con voi, sappiate che a Genova, in una città Medaglia d’oro per la Resistenza, si aiuta gli altri a resistere”.

Ieri sera Salis mi ha fatto ricordare cos’è Genova e cosa rappresenta, dopo anni, forse decenni, in cui un po’ tutti noi ce ne eravamo dimenticati.
