Hacker Scattered LAPSUS$ Hunters: accesso non autorizzato a Google LERS
I dirigenti di Google hanno affermato che gli hacker hanno creato un account falso sul Law Enforcement Request System (LERS), la piattaforma aziendale utilizzata dalle forze dell’ordine per inviare richieste ufficiali di dati.
Alla fine della scorsa settimana, i membri dei gruppi di hacker Scattered Spider, LAPSUS$ e Shiny Hunters (che affermano di essersi uniti e ora si fanno chiamare Scattered LAPSUS$ Hunters) hanno annunciato su Telegram di aver ottenuto l’accesso sia al portale Google LERS sia al sistema di controllo dei precedenti eCheck dell’FBI.
LERS ed eCheck sono utilizzati dalle forze di polizia e dalle agenzie di intelligence di tutto il mondo per trasmettere citazioni e ordini, nonché richieste di divulgazione urgente di informazioni. L’accesso non autorizzato a questi sistemi ha consentito agli aggressori di impersonare agenti delle forze dell’ordine e di accedere ai dati sensibili degli utenti.
“Abbiamo accertato che nel nostro sistema di richieste delle forze dell’ordine è stato creato un account fraudolento e lo abbiamo disattivato”, ha dichiarato ai giornalisti un portavoce di Google. “Nessuna richiesta è stata effettuata tramite questo account fraudolento. Non è stato effettuato alcun accesso ai dati”.
L’FBI ha rifiutato di commentare le dichiarazioni dei colpevoli.
Si noti che gli hacker hanno pubblicato screenshot dell’accesso presumibilmente ottenuto poco dopo aver annunciato la loro intenzione di “nascondersi”.
Ricordiamo che all’inizio di quest’anno, il collettivo Scattered LAPSUS$ Hunters ha attirato molta attenzione dopo attacchi su larga scala a Salesforce.
Inizialmente gli aggressori hanno utilizzato l’ingegneria sociale per indurre i dipendenti a collegare lo strumento Data Loader alle istanze aziendali di Salesforce, che è stato poi utilizzato per rubare dati e commettere estorsioni.
Successivamente, gli hacker hanno compromesso il repository GitHub di Salesloft e hanno utilizzato Trufflehog per scoprire segreti nel codice sorgente privato. Ciò ha permesso loro di trovare token di autenticazione per Salesloft Drift, utilizzati per sferrare ulteriori attacchi e il conseguente furto di massa di dati da Salesforce.
Il fatto è che gli specialisti di Google Threat Intelligence (Mandiant) sono stati i primi a notare cosa stava succedendo, hanno attirato l’attenzione sugli attacchi a Salesforce e Salesloft e hanno avvisato tutti della necessità di rafforzare le proprie difese.
Dopodiché, gli hacker hanno iniziato a ridicolizzare regolarmente l’FBI, Google, Mandiant e i ricercatori di sicurezza informatica nelle pubblicazioni sui loro canali Telegram.
Ora, gli Scattered LAPSUS$ Hunters hanno pubblicato un lungo messaggio su un dominio associato a BreachForums, affermando che stanno cessando le operazioni.
“Abbiamo deciso che d’ora in poi la nostra forza risiede nel silenzio”, hanno scritto gli aggressori. “Continuerete a vedere i nostri nomi nei resoconti sulle fughe di dati di decine di aziende multimiliardarie che non hanno ancora ammesso l’attacco, così come di alcune agenzie governative, comprese quelle altamente protette. Ma questo non significa che siamo ancora attivi”.

Versioni che si scontrano con l’evidenza delle immagini di Gaza che rimbalzano in Rete, aprendo un cortocircuito con molti media tradizionali, tenuti a distanza dai fatti, senza inviati testimoni sui luoghi, relegati nell’area dei comunicati, dei briefing, delle propagande.
Questioni che riguardano tutti i conflitti: la formazione dell’opinione pubblica, la corretta dialettica democratica, mentre in tutto l’Occidente si fa concreta la tentazione di restringere gli spazi di manifestazione, di protesta pacifica, di confronto civile. E si impone una retorica bellicista, che giustifica la propaganda, esige schieramenti, rifiuta le complessità, mina concretamente il diritto di informare e di essere informati.
Anche per questo Stampa Romana, sarà domani, sabato, alle 18 in Piazza del Campidoglio, per manifestare vicinanza alla Flotilla, allo sforzo per la pace e l’umanità dei volontari, perché su di loro sia sempre accesa la luce dell’informazione, che tutta la categoria è chiamata a difendere.

Perovskite Solar Cell Crystals See the Invisible
A new kind of ‘camera’ is poking at the invisible world of the human body – and it’s made from the same weird crystals that once shook up solar energy. Researchers at Northwestern University and Soochow University have built the first perovskite-based gamma-ray detector that actually works for nuclear medicine imaging, like SPECT scans. This hack is unusual because it takes a once-experimental lab material and shows it can replace multimillion-dollar detectors in real-world hospitals.
Current medical scanners rely on CZT or NaI detectors. CZT is pricey and cracks like ice on a frozen lake. NaI is cheaper, but fuzzy – like photographing a cat through steamed-up glass. Perovskites, however, are easier to grow, cheaper to process, and now proven to detect single photons with record-breaking precision. The team pixelated their crystal like a smartphone camera sensor and pulled crisp 3D images out of faint radiation traces. The payoff: sharper scans, lower radiation doses, and tech that could spread beyond rich clinics.
Perovskite was once typecast as a ‘solar cell wonder,’ but now it’s mutating into a disruptive medical eye. A hack in the truest sense: re-purposing physics for life-saving clarity.

A 10″ Telescope, Because You Only Live Once
Why build a telescope? YOLO, as the kids say. Having decided that, one must decide what type of far-seer one will construct. For his 10″ reflector, [Carl Anderson] once again said “Yolo”— this time not as a slogan, but in reference to a little-known type of reflecting telescope.
The Yolo-pattern telescope was proposed by [Art Leonard] back in the 1960s, and was apparently named for a county in California. It differs from the standard Newtonian reflector in that it uses two concave spherical mirrors of very long radius to produce a light path with no obstructions. (This differs from the similar Schiefspiegler that uses a convex secondary.) The Yolo never caught on, in part because of the need to stretch the primary mirror in a warping rig to correct for coma and astigmatism.
[Carl] doesn’t bother with that, instead using modern techniques to precisely calculate and grind the required toric profile into the mirror. Grinding and polishing was done on motorized jigs [Carl] built, save for the very final polishing. (A quick demo video of the polishing machine is embedded below.)
The body of the telescope is a wooden truss, sheathed in plywood. Three-point mirror mounts alowed for the final adjustment. [Carl] seems to prefer observing by eye to astrophotography, as there are no photos through the telescope. Of course, an astrophotographer probably would not have built an F/15 (yes, fifteen) telescope to begin with. The view through the eyepiece on the rear end must be astounding.
If you’re inspired to spend your one life scratch-building a telescope, but want something more conventional, check out this comprehensive guide. You can go bit more modern with 3D printed parts, but you probably don’t want to try spin-casting resin mirrors. Or maybe you do: YOLO!

ChatGPT Will Guess Your Age and Might Require ID for Age Verification
OpenAI has announced it is introducing new safety measures for ChatGPT after the a wave of stories and lawsuits accusing ChatGPT and other chatbots of playing a role in a number of teen suicide cases. ChatGPT will now attempt to guess a user’s age, and in some cases might require users to share an ID in order to verify that they are at least 18 years old.“We know this is a privacy compromise for adults but believe it is a worthy tradeoff,” the company said in its announcement.
“I don't expect that everyone will agree with these tradeoffs, but given the conflict it is important to explain our decisionmaking,” OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said on X.
In August, OpenAI was sued by the parents of Adam Raine, who died by suicide in April. The lawsuit alleges that alleges that the ChatGPT helped him write the first draft of his suicide note, suggested improvements on his methods, ignored early attempts and self-harm, and urged him not to talk to adults about what he was going through.
“Where a trusted human may have responded with concern and encouraged him to get professional help, ChatGPT pulled Adam deeper into a dark and hopeless place by assuring him that ‘many people who struggle with anxiety or intrusive thoughts find solace in imagining an ‘escape hatch’ because it can feel like a way to regain control.’”
In August the Wall Street Journal also reported a story about a 56-year-old man who committed a murder-suicide after ChatGPT indulgedhis paranoia. Today, the Washington Postreported another story about another lawsuit alleging that a Character AI chatbot contributed to a 13-year-old girl’s death by suicide.
OpenAI introduced parental controls to ChatGPT earlier in September, but has now introduced new, more strict and invasive security measures.
In addition to attempting to guess or verify a user’s age, ChatGPT will now also apply different rules to teens who are using the chatbot.
“For example, ChatGPT will be trained not to do the above-mentioned flirtatious talk if asked, or engage in discussions about suicide of self-harm even in a creative writing setting,” the announcement said. “And, if an under-18 user is having suicidal ideation, we will attempt to contact the users’ parents and if unable, will contact the authorities in case of imminent harm.”
OpenAI’s post explains that it is struggling to manage an inherent problem with large language models that 404 Media has tracked for several years. ChatGPT used to be a far more restricted chatbot that would refuse to engage users on a wide variety of issues the company deemed dangerous or inappropriate. Competition from other models, especially locally hosted and so-called “uncensored” models, and a political shift to the right which sees many forms of content moderation as censorship, has caused OpenAI to loosen those restrictions.
“We want users to be able to use our tools in the way that they want, within very broad bounds of safety,” Open AI said in its announcement. The position it seemed to have landed on given these recent stories about teen suicide, is that it wants to “‘Treat our adult users like adults’ is how we talk about this internally, extending freedom as far as possible without causing harm or undermining anyone else’s freedom.
OpenAI is not the first company that’s attempting to use machine learning to predict the age of its users. In July, YouTube announced it will use a similar method to “protect” teens from certain types of content on its platform.

For most people, experimentation with film photography comes in the form of the 35 mm format. Its ubiquity in snapshot photography means cameras are readily available at all levels, and the film offers a decent compromise between resolution and number of shots per dollar spent.
For those who wish to take their film photography further there’s the so-called medium format 120 roll film, but here opting for a higher-end camera can become expensive. Fortunately [Javier Doroteo] is here with a 3D printed medium format camera designed to use lenses intended for the Mamiya Press cameras, and from where we’re sitting it looks very nicely designed indeed.
All the files can be found on Printables along with a list of the other parts required. It’s made simple by the Mamiya lenses incorporating the shutter, but there’s still a lot of attention that has been paid to the back of the camera. This is the third version of the design and it shows, details such as the film holder and light proofing are well thought out.
Photography is so often a world in which collecting the latest kit is seen as more important than the photographs themselves, so we like and encourage camera hackers as a reaction to all that. If you’d like to see another medium format camera, this certainly isn’t the first we’ve brought you.

$2,000 Shipping: International Sellers Charge Absurd Prices to Avoid Dealing With American Tariffs
Some international sellers on large platforms like eBay and Etsy have jacked up their shipping costs to the United States to absurd prices in order to deter Americans from buying their products in an effort to avoid dealing with the logistical headaches of Trump's tariffs.A Japanese eBay seller increased the shipping cost on a $319 Olympus camera lens to $2,000 for U.S. buyers, for example. The shipping price from Japan to the United Kingdom, Italy, Ireland, Costa Rica, Canada, and other countries I checked is $29, meanwhile. The seller, Ninjacamera.Japan, recently updated their shipping prices to the United States to all be $2,000 for dozens of products that don't weigh very much and whose prices are mostly less than $800. That price used to be the threshold for the de minimis tariff exemption, a rule that previously allowed people to buy things without paying tariffs on lower-priced goods. As many hobbyists have recently discovered, the end of de minimis has made things more expensive and harder to come by.
eBay does allow sellers to opt out of selling to the United States entirely, but some sellers have found it easier to modify existing listings to have absurd shipping prices for the United States only rather than deal with taking entire listings down and delisting them to restrict American buyers entirely.
I found numerous listings from a handful of different sellers who, rather than say they won't ship to the United States, have simply jacked up their shipping costs to absurd levels for the United States only. There are $575 cameras that the seller is now charging $500 to ship to the United States but will mail for free anywhere else in the world. Another Japanese seller is charging $640 to mail to the United States but will ship for free to other countries. A seller in Kazakhstan is charging $35 to mail a camera internationally but $999 to send to the United States. A German yarn seller is charging $10.50 to ship to Canada, but $500 to ship to the United States. On Reddit, users are reporting the same phenomenon occurring with some sellers on Etsy as well (it is harder to search Etsy by shipping prices, so I couldn’t find too many examples of this).What is happening here, of course, is that some sellers in other countries don't want to have to deal with Trump's tariffs and the complicated logistics they have created for both buyers and sellers. Many international shipping companies have entirely stopped shipping to the United States, and many international sellers don't want to have to deal with the hassle of changing whatever shipping service they normally use to accommodate American buyers. eBay has also warned sellers that they may get negative feedback from American buyers who do not understand how tariffs work. eBay's feedback system is very important, and just a few negative reviews can impact a seller's standing on the platform and make it less likely that buyers will purchase something from them.
None of this is terribly surprising, but as an American, it feels actually more painful to see a listing for a product I might want that costs $2,000 for shipping rather than have the listings be invisible to me altogether.

Per l'impatto dell'ordinanza commissariale n. 24/2025, le realtà dell'Unione dei Comitati contro l'inceneritore insieme a Zero Waste e VAS, hanno fatto ricorso straordinario al Presidente della Repubblica.
Ieri abbiamo pertanto impugnato "la madre di tutte le ordinanze" perché con essa il 9 maggio Gualtieri ha dichiarato la pubblica utilità del mega impianto. Con questa ordinanza, ha approvato l'aggiudicazione fatta da Roma Capitale, disposto la presa d'atto della concessione e del diritto di superficie in favore di Renew Rome (la cordata guidata da Acea) prevedendo le famigerate operazioni di cantierizzazione che hanno portato alla devastazione di tutta la vegetazione ripariale del fosso della Cancelliera.
L'ordinanza è una lunghissima sequela di vizi di legittimità puntualmente indicati nel ricorso per il quale ci siamo affidati ancora una volta alla straordinaria professionalità di Giuseppe Libutti che, per questo giudizio, lavorerà con il collega Benedetto Cimino. Presto o tardi avremo giustizia. Santa Palomba non si piega.

Augusto, dopo 10 anni rinasce la biblioteca
Maxi-intervento di riqualificazione con i fondi di Città Metropolitana per lo spazio culturale del liceo, che sarà aperto anche al pubblico. Tra un mese l'inaugurazione
Dopo oltre dieci anni di chiusura e abbandono, la biblioteca del liceo classico Augusto, in zona Tuscolana, sta per rinascere grazie a un intervento di riqualificazione finanziato da Città Metropolitana con 350 mila euro. Lo spazio, un tempo punto di riferimento culturale per il quartiere, era stato chiuso a causa di gravi danni strutturali. I lavori hanno riguardato soprattutto il piano seminterrato, dove si sono risolti problemi di infiltrazioni, muffa e degrado, e hanno trasformato l’ambiente in un’area moderna e accessibile, con sala accoglienza, servizi per disabili, spazi studio e book-crossing.
Anche l’esterno è stato riqualificato: il giardino, prima invaso da fango e vegetazione, sarà ora fruibile con panchine e illuminazione. La biblioteca sarà aperta non solo agli studenti, ma anche al pubblico, con accesso sia dall’interno della scuola che dall’esterno, per garantire l’utilizzo pomeridiano e l’inclusione della cittadinanza.
Le istituzioni locali, come il delegato all’edilizia scolastica Daniele Parrucci e il presidente del Municipio VII Francesco Laddaga, hanno sottolineato l’importanza del progetto come risposta a una richiesta storica del territorio. Fondamentale anche il ruolo degli studenti, che hanno sostenuto la riapertura fin dall’inizio e ora celebrano la restituzione di uno spazio di studio e aggregazione che considerano essenziale per la vita scolastica e sociale del quartiere. L’inaugurazione è prevista entro il prossimo mese.
