Strawberry, is it normal for some branches to die off?
I took a strawberry seedling and poured it into a larger pot.
The central part is fine, and some strawberries are growing. But some parts are dying, drying from the base, as you can see in the pic.
I was wondering if it is like basil, where the plants you buy are made of many different plants too close, so it is better to separate them?
Or, is there is something else I’m doing wrong?
Do you have any advice?

Usually common advice I hear is to do this for all first year transfers so the plant has time to establish and put the nutrients into something more useful. But yeah op do this^. You're likely seeing abortion from it not being too established yet.
Upshot is, while you're waiting for the fruit, give that bad thing a lot of room to spread out and you'll be rolling in strawberries next spring. I'm talking like 3 extra pots for the runners. They are not shy plants.
Cool thing I found out this year: you can let the fruit ripen on the vine much longer than grocery store strawberries get and it tastes absolutely saccharine. Goddamn. Pests might get to some but still worth it for me at least.
First time grow strawberries. Flowers were already there when I bought it at the store
Thank you for the advice

Come sempre.
A posto così.

Mass layoffs suck. Yet again it’s corporate mismanagement, at best.
But in all seriousness, what was even their role there? It’s a glorified social media platform with an occasional job application. They cant possibly need that many people
Nah, I don't think it's mismanagement, it's just planned job cuts to make the financials look better.
Why did MS lay off 3% of its workforce after having something like 15% more revenue than expected? It has nothing to do with mismanagement.
The corpo bullshit reasons they give are just thinly veiled lies.
I'm looking for an article showing that LLMs don't know how they work internally
I found the aeticle in a post on the fediverse, and I can't find it anymore.
The reaserchers asked a simple mathematical question to an LLM ( like 7+4) and then could see how internally it worked by finding similar paths, but nothing like performing mathematical reasoning, even if the final answer was correct.
Then they asked the LLM to explain how it found the result, what was it's internal reasoning. The answer was detailed step by step mathematical logic, like a human explaining how to perform an addition.
This showed 2 things:
- LLM don't "know" how they work
- the second answer was a rephrasing of original text used for training that explain how math works, so LLM just used that as an explanation
I think it was a very interesting an meaningful analysis
Can anyone help me find this?
EDIT: thanks to @theunknownmuncher
@lemmy.world
anthropic.com/research/tracing… its this one
EDIT2: I'm aware LLM dont "know" anything and don't reason, and it's exactly why I wanted to find the article. Some more details here: feddit.it/post/18191686/138150…

I agree. This is the exact problem I think people need to face with nural network AIs. They work the exact same way we do. Even if we analysed the human brain it would look like wires connected to wires with different resistances all over the place with some other chemical influences.
I think everyone forgets that nural networks were used in AI to replicate how animal brains work, and clearly if it worked for us to get smart then it should work for something synthetic. Well we've certainly answered that now.
Everyone being like "oh it's just a predictive model and it's all math and math can't be intelligent" are questioning exactly how their own brains work. We are just prediction machines, the brain releases dopamine when it correctly predicts things, it self learns from correctly assuming how things work. We modelled AI off of ourselves. And if we don't understand how we work, of course we're not gonna understand how it works.
Even if LLM "neurons" and their interconnections are modeled to the biological ones, LLMs aren't modeled on human brain, where a lot is not understood.
The first thing is that how the neurons are organized is completely different. Think about the cortex and the transformer.
Second is the learning process. Nowhere close.
The fact explained in the article about how we do math, through logical steps while LLMs use resemblance is a small but meaningful example. And it also shows that you can see how LLMs work, it's just very difficult

Germans need to grow a backbone, fight for their people (and for their land) - the ones who evolved there, the white ones, the ones who are Germanic. Don't rely on the millions of nonGermanic people living in Germany to care much, because, by comparison, their home countries are worse, so they dare not fight for the new land they live on.
fight for their people (and for their land)
Try giving Germans weapons, and we'll have another war on the horizon.
But, I am not sure exactly what you are getting at. Hopefully, you weren't being prejudiced against Germans.

in reply to suoko • • •I’m not aware of any universal compatibility chart maintained across multiple brands.
For this case however, from what I understand Ltwoo uses the same (or very similar) pull ratio to Shimano 2:1 (actually about 1.7:1). This is the ratio used for Shimano’s road groups up to 10 speed and their mountain groups up to 9-speed.
Unfortunately, if you’re looking for a modern mountain derailleur with large capacity and clutch, it doesn’t leave you with many good options.

in reply to Robomekk • • •Thanks, I found something about various pull ratios.
