⚠️ #Apple’s current #iOS model limits #SoftwareFreedom and locks users and developers into its walled garden, blocking independent developers and innovation in mobile ecosystems.
For instance, Apple still does not allow sideloading and maintains tight gatekeeping over the App Store.
👉 The exception to this was achieved by the EU's #DMA, where Apple is forced to open up its mobile operating systems to third-party software installation.

❗ The voluntary commitments proposed by #Apple won’t fix this.
The #UK Competition and Markets Authority must mandate interoperability by default, ensuring all developers, including #FreeSoftware #OpenSource ones, get equal access to Apple’s OS (#iOS) and hardware features.

📣 The solution should be the enforcement of "interoperability-by-design".
A broad #interoperability mandate is key for healthy and competitive digital markets.
Without clear rules, deadlines and transparent processes for granting interoperability, many developers will remain excluded from #Apple's controlled ecosystems.

I d k, what is of interest?
For me, a real gamechanger was switching to GrapheneOS, as it makes using Android quite easy. Only 1 app i wanted to use didn't because of "not certified OS", a TeleDocApp of my health insurance. Other than that, everything works.
imho an absolute MUST is some form of sync (Calendars and Contacts as well as file upload). Nextcloud works well for me. Some Mail-Hoster offer CalDAV/CardDAV (i.e. Posteo).
Additionally some kind of Backup is advised.

2/3 On #AgeVerification, the position of EU member states is to have rules which would force most or all private message services to check people's ID documents before being able to use them.
🚫 This would not keep anyone safe, but could have serious negative consequences on everyone's free expression and right to private communications.
The Parliament needs to prioritise making sure that the final text on the #CSARegulation safeguards uses of age verification and doesn't make them mandatory.

Rispetto ai precedenti lavori di deanonimizzazione (ad esempio, sul premio Netflix) che richiedevano dati strutturati o l'ingegneria manuale delle funzionalità, il nostro approccio funziona direttamente sui contenuti utente grezzi su piattaforme arbitrarie. Costruiamo tre set di dati con dati di ground-truth noti per valutare i nostri attacchi. Il primo collega Hacker News ai profili LinkedIn, utilizzando riferimenti multipiattaforma presenti nei profili. 🧐 Google’s plan would mean that all personal data of #FreeSoftware app developers on Android would end up with #Google, even apps distributed outside the Play Store, by forcing developers to register and hand over ID.

The European Parliament is currently deciding its position on the proposed second extension of the ‘temporary’ interim ePrivacy derogation, also known as 'Chat Control 1.0'.
✊🏾 @edri, 39 organisations and several individual experts are urging members of the Parliament to reject any extension of the derogation.
It is vital that MEPs act now to rule out mass snooping on our private messages.

Un database non protetto collegato a IDMerit ha reso pubblici un miliardo di dati personali in 26 paesi.
- I dati trapelati includono documenti d'identità nazionali, nomi completi, indirizzi, numeri di telefono e potenziali metadati di telecomunicazioni.
- Gli Stati Uniti sono stati la nazione più colpita, con oltre 203 milioni di dati personali esposti.
- Anche il Messico, le Filippine e nazioni europee come la Germania avevano milioni di record esposti.

Nichts für mich, ich telefoniere äußerst ungern mit Fremden, und ich bin auch unglaublich schlecht darin. Selbst mit Freunden und Bekannten kommuniziere ich lieber schriftlich, wenn es geht. Mit Menschen reden ist anstrengend, mit Menschen per Telefon reden ist noch anstrengender, und mit fremden Menschen am Telefon reden, ist unglaublich ermüdend, stressig und emotional zermürbend für mich.
