The result was my business plummeting down, no projects came in anymore, making it nearly impossible to come around after 20 years of career.

Ho sempre asserito che invece di comprare un TV smart รจ meglio acquistarne uno stupid.
Prima o poi le app del TV non verranno piรน aggiornate. Il delta costo pagato per aver la TV smart sono sprecati anche in considerazione che uno "scatolino" che fornisce le stesse funzionalitร tramite connessione HDMI costa da 60 a 100 Euro e quando sarร obsoleto con piรน o meno la stessa cifra si potrร comprarne uno nuovo di pacca senza dover cambiare il TV!
Prima o poi le app del TV non verranno piรน aggiornate. Magari non si troveranno piรน TV non start, ma se uno si trovasse come me che dopo 6 anno comincia ad avere problemi ad avere tutte le applicazioni funzionanti, piuttosto che cambiare TV il box multimediale costituisce una scelta obbligata.

Non guardo la TV da 40 anni, quindi spero mi perdonerete se sposto un poco il tema.
Vale lo stesso discorso per i "cellularoni" che stanno installando in tutte le aule scolastiche al posto delle lavagne? Da LIM (interattive multimediali) a "Digital Board" non รจ solo un cambio di lingua.

a me รจ capitato recentemente che ben due a distanza di pochi giorni mi apparissero screenshot ( su quello che stavo guardando) senza che avessi minimamente toccato il telecomando o detto qsa! E mi รจ apparso un altra volta sullo smartphone la notifica di vecchie puntate di un programma che avevo guardato per qualche minuto in smarttv ( passati 10 minuti dal girare canale), programma che erano anni che non guardavo!! Mi sembra spiare, controllare...

Ci sono anche i dumb tuner con supporto multimediale. Basta resistere alla tentazione di collegarli in rete.
ormai tutti ci spiano, a volte parlando si attiva il cellulare senza che l'abbia toccato. Le tv smart registrano cosa stai guardando, non che me ne importi, se me lo chiedono lo dico io stesso. Intanto in camera sono stato costretto a mettere Google Chromecast perchรฉ non ho l'antenna e in questo modo riesco a vedere tutto ciรฒ che mi interessa. Mi spiano? Facciano pure, cosรฌ magari si accorgono che non mi piace 4 hotel, 4 ristoranti, 4 matrimoni, 4 vaffa...

Naturalmente puoi c9nfigurare altre funzioni, tipo escludere certi dispositivi o aggiungere determinate liste di siti da bloccare ecc.

I think most of the channels I watch on YT aren't going to migrate to PT, because it's nearly impossible to monetize.

A lot of YouTube channels no longer make much in direct monetisation, they often make more from Patreon and sponsorships.
Patreon and sponsorships are platform-neutral, so they can be done on any video platform including PeerTube (for example @thelinuxexperiment mentions sponsors at the start, @michellemay mentions Patreons at the end).

A sponsor wants to see numbers, and i bet you Squarespace is not happy with the numbers peertube makes for 90% of the people they currently have under contract (Squarespace seems to sponsor every video i watch haha, lots of art stuff)

If someone's PeerTube started getting large numbers of views, they would be able to get a sponsor the same way they do on YouTube or any other video platform. And you can have sponsors on multiple platforms, in fact it's probably easier so you can upload the same file everywhere.
Also, patrons are available at any scale, I have patrons for my Fediverse accounts.

No law AFAIK, it's just them being greedy and thinking they can make more money by pleasing Trump.
They want government contracts, they want favourable laws in other areas etc, and they see that Trump responds to people who suck up to him, so this is what they do.
I hope the staff at YouTube/Google walk out over things like this, sounds like a horrible company to work for.

One caveat is that Peertube uses Google and wsimg trackers for some reason and won't load if you have something like Privacy badger running.

Yeah, it will vary a LOT depending on how long the videos are, how large the files are, how high quality they are.
Best way to find out is to ask the admin of the server you want to go to, or the hosting company if you want to set up your own.

Not only this, YouTube also removed this from an example of rule-breaking:

...so they seem to be now allowing people to be accused of mental illness if they are LGBTQIA+ etc.
Accusations of mental illness is how LGBTQIA+ groups have been persecuted, it's why it was illegal in so many countries for so long. Allowing this kind of language is opening the doors for awful and dangerous bigotry.

I totally understand why one would react to this change in a negative way. However, myself being a minority and subject to more hate speech than the people that see themselves as the superior race, have never seen the group of people I belong to mentioned specifically in hate speech policies. That doesn't mean I never felt less protected by them. It's not like YouTube now supports hate speech towards certain groups just because they don't mention them anymore.

Considering this particular service went down just before the US elections last year due to an attack, guessing that at least some people don't like it existing and bringing up what they said before.
Yeah, to confirm:
PeerTube is NOT blockchain, nothing on the Fediverse is blockchain!
PeerTube and the rest of the Fediverse are just ordinary traditional files on ordinary traditional servers. It is totally possible to delete them if you want to, just like any other file.
It is also possible to ask other servers to carry spare copies of your videos in case your server breaks down, but this is optional and up to the video creator.

Peertube is different. It is plain old data is on the server and if you delete it there, it is gone (unless somebody downloaded and saved it, but I think that is not what you are asking for)
On PeerTube videos, they are streamed from the original server even if they have federated elsewhere. The file sizes are so huge, it isn't practical to automatically copy entire videos to other servers the way that text posts are copied.
The only exception to this is if you've asked other servers to make backups of your video so that it can still be played if your server goes down. But this is up to you and totally optional.
@davethepitt @FediFollows if Iโm not mistaken, PeerTube videos are deletable (just like the rest of the fediverse), though do bear in mind that just like any fediverse platform, instances could not comply with the deletion status

It's a long story but basically don't use the app. The rules on app stores aren't suitable for federated networks and have made it very difficult for PeerTube to make an app store app that gets approved.
I'd highly recommend using a server's website and then installing it as a web app, this will give you full access to all the features and bypass the app store restrictions completely. Here's how to install web apps: fedi.tips/how-to-install-web-aโฆ

This is not surprising. Companies do not support minorities. The decision is not a change of heart but a revelation of a truth that always existed on YouTube.

My personal recommendation (absolutely feel free to not care^^) would be to just delete/archive the mail and be done. Showing it publicly might prepare and help more vulnerable authors receiving this.

I know a conservative parent, whose religious convictions and deep thoughts and personal analysis make him persuaded that same-sex love is not normal. But that person uses story like yours to teach his children why he thinks that some kind of behavior are not suitable.
This is a good example that you can indeed be an asshole while using polite language.

Tolerance and inclusivity must logically be intolerant of intolerance and exclude those who loath inclusivity.
I always try to view things from both sides. So, as a parent, you may think that "cis heterosexual" is the path of least resistance and it may prevent difficulties for your child in the future. I have some understanding for this view.
However, apart from what they may think is right for the child, it won't change the reality that same-sex relationships exist and should be accepted as normal. Less common perhaps, but normal.

I remember when my 8 year old daughter first saw this panel she felt confused and embarrassed, and it was an excellent cue for us to explain to her that yes, sometimes girls love girls and there's nothing wrong with it. I think it was her first introduction to the idea of same-sex love, and seeing it in her favorite comic made it easier to understand. Thanks for that!

What I find most offensive about this "request" is the idea that somehow it's a good thing for you to compromise your creative vision so that it's palatable for an audience you have no interest in catering to in the first place.
I'd be inclined to say something like "Thank you for your email, but I fear you are mistaken about the nature of your relationship to Pepper & Carrot. It is not intended for people who aren't comfortable sharing same-sex relationships with their children."
