Ho sempre asserito che invece di comprare un TV smart รจ meglio acquistarne uno stupid. Prima o poi le app del TV non verranno piรน aggiornate. Il delta costo pagato per aver la TV smart sono sprecati anche in considerazione che uno "scatolino" che fornisce le stesse funzionalitร tramite connessione HDMI costa da 60 a 100 Euro e quando sarร obsoleto con piรน o meno la stessa cifra si potrร comprarne uno nuovo di pacca senza dover cambiare il TV!

Registro da TV i programmi che mi interessano e me li guardo a pezzi quando voglio e ovviamente quando c'รจ la pubblicitร la salto. TV in diretta quasi zero.

a me รจ capitato recentemente che ben due a distanza di pochi giorni mi apparissero screenshot ( su quello che stavo guardando) senza che avessi minimamente toccato il telecomando o detto qsa! E mi รจ apparso un altra volta sullo smartphone la notifica di vecchie puntate di un programma che avevo guardato per qualche minuto in smarttv ( passati 10 minuti dal girare canale), programma che erano anni che non guardavo!! Mi sembra spiare, controllare...
ormai tutti ci spiano, a volte parlando si attiva il cellulare senza che l'abbia toccato. Le tv smart registrano cosa stai guardando, non che me ne importi, se me lo chiedono lo dico io stesso. Intanto in camera sono stato costretto a mettere Google Chromecast perchรฉ non ho l'antenna e in questo modo riesco a vedere tutto ciรฒ che mi interessa. Mi spiano? If you're not a video creator but you follow someone on YouTube, you might want to politely suggest to them that they mirror their channel on PeerTube so that people can watch without having to use YouTube.

@FediFollows could you just confirm if you put a video on Peer Tube that it is able to be deleted at a later date. I looked at DTube many years ago but once on you can't delete a video. Which could have potential legal ramifications.

Peertube is different. It is plain old data is on the server and if you delete it there, it is gone (unless somebody downloaded and saved it, but I think that is not what you are asking for)
PeerTube is NOT blockchain, nothing on the Fediverse is blockchain!
PeerTube and the rest of the Fediverse are just ordinary traditional files on ordinary traditional servers. It is totally possible to delete them if you want to, just like any other file.
It is also possible to ask other servers to carry spare copies of your videos in case your server breaks down, but this is optional and up to the video creator.
@davethepitt @FediFollows if Iโm not mistaken, PeerTube videos are deletable (just like the rest of the fediverse), though do bear in mind that just like any fediverse platform, instances could not comply with the deletion status
On PeerTube videos, they are streamed from the original server even if they have federated elsewhere. The file sizes are so huge, it isn't practical to automatically copy entire videos to other servers the way that text posts are copied.
The only exception to this is if you've asked other servers to make backups of your video so that it can still be played if your server goes down. But this is up to you and totally optional.
p.p.s. It's not as difficult or expensive as you might think to start your own PeerTube server. There are managed hosting services which do all the techy stuff for you (installation, upgrades, maintenance, fixing any problems etc), and these start from US$6.99 per month inclusive of everything (fedihost.co/pricing).
You can ask @fedihost about entry level PeerTube hosting, and @Cloud68 is also a good one.
@BoydStephenSmithJr it can't hurt to ask them about it! a lot of channels I watch get most/all of their revenue from Patreon regardless, so it in theory would not be a problem for them
A lot of YouTube channels no longer make much in direct monetisation, they often make more from Patreon and sponsorships.
Patreon and sponsorships are platform-neutral, so they can be done on any video platform including PeerTube (for example @thelinuxexperiment mentions sponsors at the start, @michellemay mentions Patreons at the end).

A sponsor wants to see numbers, and i bet you Squarespace is not happy with the numbers peertube makes for 90% of the people they currently have under contract (Squarespace seems to sponsor every video i watch haha, lots of art stuff) Don't get me wrong, I've been looking into peertube recently because I want to get rid of yt. But the monetisation via sponsors is nowhere near what you can make on yt.

If someone's PeerTube started getting large numbers of views, they would be able to get a sponsor the same way they do on YouTube or any other video platform. And you can have sponsors on multiple platforms, in fact it's probably easier so you can upload the same file everywhere.
Also, patrons are available at any scale, I have patrons for my Fediverse accounts.
...but bear in mind these are being paid for by the instance owners. Usually they only cover costs for videos that other people might want to watch.
If you upload only for your own viewing, it seems reasonable to ask for payment? YouTube is only "free" is because it is spying on people and filling videos with advertising (and now it's allowing hate speech).

They want government contracts, they want favourable laws in other areas etc, and they see that Trump responds to people who suck up to him, so this is what they do.

@the5thColumnist depends on video length and such. PeerTube offers a feature where you can sync over all your videos from YT, though it is disabled on some instances

Not only this, YouTube also removed this from an example of rule-breaking:

...so they seem to be now allowing people to be accused of mental illness if they are LGBTQIA+ etc.
Accusations of mental illness is how LGBTQIA+ groups have been persecuted, it's why it was illegal in so many countries for so long. Allowing this kind of language is opening the doors for awful and dangerous bigotry.
I totally understand why one would react to this change in a negative way. However, myself being a minority and subject to more hate speech than the people that see themselves as the superior race, have never seen the group of people I belong to mentioned specifically in hate speech policies. That doesn't mean I never felt less protected by them. It's not like YouTube now supports hate speech towards certain groups just because they don't mention them anymore.
Considering this particular service went down just before the US elections last year due to an attack, guessing that at least some people don't like it existing and bringing up what they said before.
I use my PS5 for media, which limits me to watching on YouTube... It's becoming apparent I need to scrap this convenience and build a streaming box to watch on my TV, cause everything is becoming nazified and I need to move more and more to alternatives that aren't on mainstream devices.
i made a peertube account to post there, but when i go on the app, there doesn't seem to be a way to log in. it automatically creates a 'local account' or something, which is...weird. am i missing something?
@AntiEverythingWhatever It's a long story but basically don't use the app. The rules on app stores aren't suitable for federated networks and have made it very difficult for PeerTube to make an app store app that gets approved.

It's full of manipulation tactics such as flattery and seduction ('masterpiece/wonderful/beautiful/magical') , a call to social norm (eg. "many conservative parents worlwide", "different cultures"), playing the victim (eg. "more accessible", also a 'mirroring' tactic using a vocabulary used by people caring about other humans).
Showing it publicly might prepare and help more vulnerable authors receiving this.

Definitely, you should not "fix" that "not so" minor adjustment. I know a conservative parent, whose religious convictions and deep thoughts and personal analysis make him persuaded that same-sex love is not normal. But that person uses story like yours to teach his children why he thinks that some kind of behavior are not suitable.

I always try to view things from both sides. So, as a parent, you may think that "cis heterosexual" is the path of least resistance and it may prevent difficulties for your child in the future. I have some understanding for this view.
However, apart from what they may think is right for the child, it won't change the reality that same-sex relationships exist and should be accepted as normal. Less common perhaps, but normal.
Instead, they attempt to warp reality for their children.

I remember when my 8 year old daughter first saw this panel she felt confused and embarrassed, and it was an excellent cue for us to explain to her that yes, sometimes girls love girls and there's nothing wrong with it. I think it was her first introduction to the idea of same-sex love, and seeing it in her favorite comic made it easier to understand. Thanks for that!

What I find most offensive about this "request" is the idea that somehow it's a good thing for you to compromise your creative vision so that it's palatable for an audience you have no interest in catering to in the first place.

Come forse saprai giร , con Friendica possiamo scegliere di scrivere post con il titolo (come su WordPress) e post senza titolo (come su Mastodon). Uno dei problemi piรน fastidiosi per chi desidera scrivere post con il titolo รจ il fatto che gli utenti Mastodon leggeranno il tuo post come se fosse costituito dal solo titolo e, due a capi piรน in basso, dal link al post originale: questo non รจ di certo il modo miglior per rendere leggibili e interessanti i tuoi post!
Gli utenti Mastodon infatti hanno molti limiti di visualizzazione, ma sono pur sempre la comunitร piรน grande del Fediverso e perciรฒ รจ importante che vedano correttamente i vostri post: poter contare sulla loro visibilitร รจ un'opportunitร per aggiungere ulteriori possibilitร di interazioni con altre persone.

Giving feedback is great, but is it needed to be so aggressive ? You get this for free, and being respectfull (I'm not even saying kind, just minimum respect) seem to me like a minimum, and would actually give better results I am convinced.
I agree that being able to log in, selecting a custom instance is a must have though !
I'm a little confused. Are you saying that you HAD to present the app to Google and Apple as a search tool for only a handful of instances to get approval for further development?
The limited number of instances is because Google and Apple's store are very touchy about the content of new apps from new devs, and we want to get though the first publication process.
The log in is not in the beta test release because we are working on it and plan to add it in the -near- future.
