Dopo la Dunkerque degli esuli di Twitter approdati su Mastodon, potrebbe esserci una migrazione da Reddit verso Lemmy. E la nostra feddit ha avuto in una sola mattinata le iscrizioni di una settimana!
Lo sviluppatore dell'app Apollo, utilizzata da tantissimi degli iscritti a Reddit, ha espresso su twitter tutte le proprie perplessità a fronte delle novità relative alle politiche di Reddit sulle API di terze parti.
Chiaramente questo è un ulteriore segnale del fatto che le grandi piattaforme centralizzate, Twitter per prima, non trovando più soldi facili dai grandi investitori tecnologici, stanno iniziando non più solo a mungere i dati personali dei propri utenti, ma hanno iniziato a tosarli e a taglieggiare chiunque graviti intorno al loro business.
Per fortuna però gli utenti stanno iniziando a comprendere che l'atmosfera si sta facendo sempre più asfittica.
La stessa cosa sta avvenendo all'istanza lemmy.ml, la più grande del Fediverso: uno dei suoi fondatori (nonché sviluppatore dello stesso Lemmy) ha dichiarato che:
"lemmy.ml in precedenza aveva un nuovo utente al giorno, ora sono alcune decine al giorno."
In effetti la libertà che consente una piattaforma come Lemmy. è impensabile con qualsiasi piattaforma centralizzata!
E questo vale per altri "link aggregator" federat, tutti interoperabili, come KBin o Lotide, oltre che per la stessa #Friendica, l'alternativa del Fediverso a Facebook, da cui sto scrivendo questo post, leggibile non solo su Lemmy ma da tutti gli utenti Mastodon.
Nei prossimi giorni, vi terremo aggiornati su tutte le eventuali novità...

un attacco in grande scala che non poteva essere fermato in quanto #mastodon non aveva mezzi di difesa e che ha indotto molte istanze a silenziare in via precauzionale .social vista l'enorme mole di messaggi in uscita.
Pare che ora, grazie proprio alle forti polemiche, si sia finalmente aggiunto un captcha per bloccare le registrazioni dei BOT.

- the search for @-handles was fixed,
- the emoji picker was moved to the core, and

What is Friendica
Friendica is a decentralized communications platform, you can use to host your own social media server that integrates with independent social networking platforms (like the Fediverse or Diaspora*) but also some commercial ones like Tumblr.
How to Update
Updating from old Friendica versions
If you are updating from an older version than the 2022.12 release, please first update your Friendica instance to that version as it contained some breaking changes.

Ensure that the last backup of your Friendica installation was done recently.
Using Git
Updating from the git repositories should only involve a pull from the Friendica core repository and addons repository, regardless of the branch (stable or develop) you are using. Remember to update the dependencies with composer as well. So, assuming that you are on thestablebranch, the commands to update your installation to the 2023.05 release would be

bin/composer.phar install --no-dev
cd addon
git pull
If you want to use a different branch than thestableone, you need to fetch and checkout the branch before your perform the git pull.Pulling in the dependencies with composer will show some deprecation warning, we will be working on that in the upcoming release.
Using the Archive Files
If you had downloaded the source files in an archive file (tar.gz) please download the current version of the archive from friendica-full-2023.05.tar.gz (sha256) and friendica-addons 2023.05.tar.gz (sha256)) and unpack it on your local computer.As many files got deleted or moved around, please upload the unpacked files to a new directory on your server (say
friendica_new) and copy over your existing configuration (config/local.config.phpandconfig/addon.config.php) and.htaccessfiles. Afterwards rename your current Friendica directory (e.g. friendica) tofriendica_oldandfriendica_newtofriendica.The files of the dependencies are included in the archive (make sure you are using the friendica-full-2023.05 archive), so you don’t have to worry about them.

Abbiamo ricevuto diversi messaggi che ci rimproveravano di avere dato spazio a voci contrarie all'Ucraina e ostili verso la strenua difesa del popolo ucraino. A volte siamo stati addirittura accusati di diffondere fake news.
Ricordiamo a tutti che le opinioni non sono fatti e che un'opinione non è una fake news, anche se dovesse essere un'opinione sbagliata.
Polemizzare, anche utilizzando toni molto accesi, non può essere derubricato a comportamento tossico solo perché non esprime l'opinione desiderata.
In questa istanza pertanto verrà sempre consentita la libera espressione del proprio pensiero.
Tuttavia ricordiamo anche che la nostra tolleranza verso gli account di propaganda militarista, filo-occidentale o filo-russa che siano, è limitata!
Poliverso è un servizio gratuito (se volete contribuire potete farlo qui) e proprio per questo non è uno spazio che verrà concesso ad account che praticano 24×7 l'attacco sistematico verso profili che non la pensano come loro.

Dopo l'ennesima campagna di spam prodotta nell'istanza del fondatore di mastodon, sempre più amministratori di istanza stanno silenziando distanza più grande al mondo
Ci auguriamo che gli amministratori di mastodon.social riescano a risolvere questo ennesimo problema di spam, anche solo limitando le nuove iscrizioni, ma siamo piuttosto pessimisti.
È sempre più chiaro che i gestori di mastodon.social puntano ad avere il massimo numero di utenti, probabilmente perché questo numero incide direttamente sui potenziali investimenti da parte dei finanziatori.

Con Mozilla, un nuovo, grande player sta sbarcando sul Fediverso. Anche altre società e piattaforme stanno lavorando a tali progetti. Il suo ingresso potrebbe potenziare e dare Maggiore risalto a #mastodon e a tutti gli altri software del #fediverso

Anche contando solo il lato più superficiale dei social network, che è quello che funziona di più quando si tratta di hype, è più facile parlare con diverse persone entrando in un bar a vedere la partita che non stando in una piazza con milioni di persone e sul fediverso potenzialmente si può creare una mappa dei "bar" di tutto il mondo e andare dove si vuole e le istanze piccole sono comunità con una loro identità, non persone a caso che corrono da qualche parte.
Twitter dà l'illusione di stare nello stesso enorme bar con "quelli che contano" ma in realtà chi ci entra in contatto è come quelli che vengono fatti salire sul palco durante i concerti.
IMO l'esplorazione del fediverso è il suo punto di forza anche se per ora è un'esperienza limitata. @notizie@poliverso.org@luca@sironi.tk@w7voa@journa.host

in reply to super_user_do • • •Sei riuscito ad accedere con feddit? Io ogni volta che provo mi da "Incorrect login", nonostante accedo con password manager e sia certo della correttezza delle credenziali.
EDIT: ho provato anche Lemmur, anch'essa scaricata da F-Droid, ed in questo caso quando cerco di inserire "feddit.it" come istanza non la trova proprio, rendendo impossibile anche solo tentare il login.

Per quanto riguarda Lemmur invece il progetto purtroppo non è più mantenuto: github.com/LemmurOrg/lemmur

in reply to TiredInsomniac • • •No ti confermo che i servizi di Google non c'entrano: utilizzo GrapheneOS senza i servizi di Google e funziona bene.
Ultimo dubbio: di recente avevo sentito di qualcuno che aveva avuto problemi per l'autenticazione perché l'username veniva richiesto case sensitive: in pratica sembra che riconosca le maiuscole e le minuscole. Puoi provare scrivendo: TiredInsomniac mettendo le minuscole e maiuscole uguali?
Nel caso fosse cosi andrebbe senz'altro aperta un'issue su GitHub 😀
